...I broke this cooler before our last trip up to Mom's...it was stored in our junky garage...and it had tipped over on it's side...so I just grabbed the edge and pulled it up...but the cooler/freezer packs (which are heavy were actually on the lid...so when I pulled it up the lid just snapped right off...it's totally still functional as a cooler though and we used it nonetheless...
...but of course I wanted to 'fix' it so that the lid didn't fall off when you opened it...so I just unscrewed the plastic hinges...
...and I knew just what I'd use for the strapping for the new hinge...this old Thirty-one purse that I'd fashioned years ago from one of Our Airman's old belts and a Thirty-one travel bag...it's definitely seen better days...I'll harvest the zipper from it for future use as well...
...then I cut a couple of pieces of the webbed strap and stitched the ends tightly with a zig-zag stitch...I'll put it back behind the original plastic hinges to hold it in place and hopefully made it sturdier...
...I used some slightly longer screws to put it all back together...
...and I have a perfectly functioning cooler lid again...
...what's in your workbasket this week?...
~Have a lovely day!
