...5.23...Friday update...

...this was going to be mostly a garden update...with lots of photos of our little square foot garden...which is doing really well right now...

...but instead I have this...
...I really am beside myself with frustration here...I have no idea what's going on...but this is the message I get from the 'new' blog...in the dark 'incognito' window...that I was using to upload photos to my old blog (this one)...

...oh well...hopefully I'll be back soon...I still haven't caught up on the posts I missed before...

~Have a lovely day!

...not sure what happened there but I finally got the photos uploaded...I had to upload them individually...if I chose more than one photo it failed...so once I got the screenshot to upload I uploaded all of these individually...
...this is the Japanese Hibiscus on the left side of the driveway...
...and this is the one on the right side...not sure what happened this year to make this one so late...but we're thankful that it is not dead...
...the lillies are all blooming now...
...and the green beans are doing great...the ones climbing the strings are Rattlesnake beans and the bush beans are Kentucky wonder...
...all the blooms and baby green beans...we'll be harvesting those a handful at a time again soon...
...and the rattlesnake beans have pretty purple flowers as well...
...one of the Rutger tomatoes that the girls planted when they were here...
...the tomatoes are getting to be pretty good sized now...I told the Man I was going to make fried green tomatoes...but he was against that idea...preferring to let them ripen...haha...
...the mangetout peas are done for the year...so I'll be pulling those up and replanting that square probably with another cucumber...
...the first of the staggered yellow squash plants...already has baby squash...
...the second planting of yellow squash is coming along nicely...
...the square foot of green onions that we planted last fall...it's getting a little bit sparse now...but still harvesting from it...
...the buttercrunch lettuce has finally bolted and is flowering...and the leaves are too bitter for salads...but I read somewhere that you can cook them like greens...so we're going to try that and pull them all up...
...it's finally time to harvest the beets...
...all of the beets...most are the white variety...there's only one of the traditional dark red beets...and several of the candy-striped ones...
...the chard from last fall is still doing well...but it'll soon get too hot for it as well...
...the new baby zucchini...replanted in the hill that didn't produce any plants in the first planting...
...the rouge vif pumpkin is blooming...
...the blueberry bushes are loaded with blueberries...
...so I pulled up all the lettuce...and removed all of the leaves...
...it made quite a sinkful...
...and I separated the beet tops (or greens) from the beets...some of them are tiny...just one bit...I'm not throwing them out though...
...just one good potful from this square foot of beets...
...and they are so delicious...like candy...no salt or butter or anything...
...and the lettuce greens were cooked with some Greens Seasoning...and they're actually still a little bit bitter...they're all right...I ate them....the Man did not...haha...

~Have a lovely day!

  2. Cool beets, I’ve never seen anything other than deep red/purple ones. Fun to see all you’ve got in the small space garden. Hope you get the photo upload figured out but I’m not holding my breath on that! Love, K
