Mamaw's Phone

Touch tone phones produce an analog signal and these old dial phones produce a digital signal...who knew?

We've had the Man's grandmother's old white telephone sitting around for years...

...I love the sound of the ringer on a real old telephone - not the fake digital version of it - so we plugged her up and she works fine...

...I'm sure I've mentioned before how much I love the internet and that you can find out just about anything in just a few seconds - I searched for and found a diagram of how to take the dial plate off - for cleaning and to put a nifty new number card into...

...I also found an image of the little number cards and used my mad cut and paste skills to create one just for us - with our number on it...

We are so RETRO!!!

  1. how very cool! you know, about 10 years ago, while playing over at the asheboro airport, found an old, black rotary phone in a closet. it was even older than your white one. the handset was really heavy and shaped differently. i remember realizing how dependent we are on our keypad dialing. they didn't have a clue as to how to use the darn thing!

yep, love the "real" ringer too!

    love, k

  2. Plus, it's fun to turn that dial and hear it click around. Of course I remember when they were all black. MOM

  3. i love the retro-ness!
i only have a cell-phone. i have it through my husband's business, and it just doesn't make sense to pay for another phone . . . so my kids have only seen a very few phones that are attached to the wall and have a cord! crazy, huh.

  4. I love those phones! I found a really antique-y one when I was junking one day, and I wanted to get it for the kids playroom, but it was $20! Yikes.

I have my IT "team" on the email bouncing problem. And by team, I mean...Greg!

  5. Well, that sure brings back memories! Sure did stink when you were dialing long distance and miss-dialed and had to start ALL OVER AGAIN!

  6. Love this phone. It reminds me of the one we had at home when my parents first got connected up (that would be about 30 years ago). I loved the sound when you dialled.
