...visiting...

...we had out of state friends visiting over the weekend...

...one of the colloquialisms of North Dakota that we loved was 'visiting'...they used it to mean just chatting with someone at the grocery store...and they also used it to describe spending time with someone...visiting almost always involves talking...you could also 'visit' with someone on the phone...

...so I spent the day 'visiting' with my friend (she's also a pastor's wife)...and we went shopping downtown...specifically looking for West Virginia things...

...we started at the Capitol Market...then strolled up Quarrier St...popping in and out of the eclectic little shops...I saw a cute vintage table I need to tell the Man about...maybe for the kitchen...we stopped at The Peanut Shoppe and got bags of roasted peanuts...and then strolled up Capitol Street to Taylor Books and browsed around there...and then had decaf soy lattes...so yummy...then we went to the International Store...and then back to the Bluegrass Cafe for veggie burgers...
...here are the things that I bought on our little shopping spree...I'll tell you more about the international foods later this week...they're for Book Club night at our house...the book was the House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus III...and there's a lot of talk of Iranian food and eating on the sofreh...so we're going to have an Iranian meal on a sofreh too...

...the vegan soap is made in West Virginia...it's lemongrass scented but made with coconut milk and olive oil...it smells wonderful...

...and a neat little measuring cup...with Tablespoons and half Tablespoons...and milliliters as well...

...it was a lot of fun!

~Have a lovely weekend!

  2. I love 'visiting'.

Friday I visited with children at the local school, teaching ten year olds to knit. Quite an experience which I shall repeat on Friday. I came away with a sweet finger knitted bracelet.
