...6.11...Friday Favorites...Exercise...

...y'all already know that I love to ride my bike...and I just increased my bike time from 30 to 40 minutes a day...I just wanted to...bicycling has always been my exercise of choice...but I haven't always had a good place to ride...so I'm happy that now I do...the small town we lived in in North Dakota was an awesome place to ride...and they had a lot of specific bike trails too...
...but I was doing a quick little 5 minute or so run to warm up during the winter before my ride...and I just stepped wrong into a depression in the ground and 'kind of' hurt my knee...not drastically and I did not go to the doctor...but running - at all - became uncomfortable on my left knee...

...and I've just recently started running again...but not outside...I'm using Our Airman's treadmill that he wasn't able to take to Japan with him...and I didn't think that I would like using a treadmill...but I actually do...
...lest you think I ran for 31 minutes at 5.6 miles per hour...I took another photo of most of the workout...I walk 5 minutes at between 2.8 and 3.2 mph...and then at 5 minutes...I "run" at between 5.6 and 5.8 mph for 1 minute...and I know that's probably more of a jog than a run...haha...then I walk another 5 minutes...and then run for 1 minute...for a total of 35 minutes...watching various YouTube videos the entire time...I look forward to this little run/walk every day...not as much as my bike ride...but I do think it's 'fun'...

  1. I hate exercise as I've always had terribly weak joints making my favourite forms of exercise at one time (jogging and aerobics) very difficult. I'd take up swimming except this city has very few indoor pools and I'd need one that isn't too busy. The ones here are oversubscribed. I do like to walk now but the knees won't permit much walking. These days I consider it exercise to go on my neighbourhood errands, buy what I need and lug it home in my bag on wheels. I also try to ride my stationary bike and the WBV machine.

      ...when I was working for a huge company before they had an onsite gym and pool...but I rarely used them...so I was kind of surprised that I enjoyed the treadmill at all...not sure I'd like an indoor bike either...but I may try that too if I get a chance...

  2. I walk A LOT, do yoga every day, and I stopped using my bike and jogging when a adopted my old rescuedog because all my exercice time is now used for her walks. But i will get an upright exercice bike next fall. My bike used to be my (no winter) exercice too.

      I added a short bit of yoga to my morning routine this past winter...just a 10-15 minute one...I enjoy it...but I'm definitely not serious about it...and we're so happy to have our backyard fence back in place so we don't have to 'walk' Jack anymore...he prefers to be on his own...you know always in control...haha...

  3. That's a cool setup. We just have an old fashioned treadmill that makes a huge racket. I should start exercising, I know.....just not a fan. I do work hard at something physical often though. Kinda like Mom. Love, K

      ...yeah...this one's pretty quiet...and the Ipad setup is really nice...so I don't get bored...haha...
