...7.8...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...well...after a few weeks of being to upload photos seamlessly...we're back to this...arghhh...
...these are a couple of thrifting finds that I thought I could use for the grandbabes...this little blue wig and glasses play set...it reminds me of Our Airman's blue hair circa 2016...and so I searched for a photo of him with blue hair on the old blog and only found this one reference to it...from a post about a new fence 10 years ago...
...I found this skein of yarn at the thrift store...
...the wig actually has a little bit of green in it...but it doesn't show up in the photo...I think it's too bright for the camera to capture it...
...so I made a skein of the yarn...
...it matches the wig pretty well...I plan on making a doll wig with it...and I don't really think there's enough...but I have some similar colour in the stash I'm sure...
...so I just started crocheting a doll sized cap...and rounded the circle to fit her head pretty closely...
...and when it came down to her ears...I started a little extension at the back...
...to make a sort of shelf that the girls can tuck dollie's hair up into...
...it'll be easier for them to do that trying to pin it up on top...and neater too...
...folded that under to make the little pouch/shelf area...
...and tried it on my model dollie...
...it's a good fit...and works as intended...
...so now that I have the wig cap...
...I need to add the hair...
...there are a lot of holes to be filled and I'm sure I don't have enough yarn for it all...
...but I'm going to start with what I have and just deal with it when I have to...
...just cutting strips and separating them into strands (hairs)...
...and looping them through the spaces in the cap with a slip knot...
...here's a couple of rows done...
...and then I just comb out the strands into soft fluffy hair...don't you love my stripe-y pjs...
...and then because it's still a little bit wavy...I'm putting it in between a coupld of sheets of parchment...
...and ironing it nice and flat with the iron on a low setting...
...just continuing adding hair and brushing...
...a close up of the new 'hair'...
...I'm making it longer than it needs to be and I'll give her a haircut when I'm done...
...so here's the sort of mop like finished wig...
...fron the back...
...quite a bit of fluff gets combed out...
...so now she needs to sit down and get her hair cut...
...the rough first cut...
...and the finished trim...
...ready to go to Alaska...
...I was able to slip the child's wig on my big head to show you what they would look like together...and I just realized that I happen to be wearing the down-sized green t-shirt from last week...haha...

...what's in your workbasket this week?...

~Have a lovely day!
