Tofu 'fish' Sticks

These were incredibly GOOD!!! Scout loved them and ate his without any sauce at all...

I made a simple tartar sauce with some of Bryanna's Vegenaise and a few chopped up dill and sweet pickles some onions, mustard and pepper - I don't really have a recipe for the sauce...

Tofu 'Fish' Sticks

Preheat oven to 350º and lightly oil a baking sheet.

1 lb. tofu (firm or extra firm) sliced

dredged first in a mixture of french dressing and yellow table mustard - you could probably use ketchup or any french dressing

then dip to coat in a mixture of 1/4 cup cornmeal and 1/2 cup crushed soda crackers

Bake at 350º until crispy and brown about 35-45 minutes.

  2. YUMMMMMM!!! One of my fave dishes at a vegan cafe/tea house here called The Zenith is Tofishy, a fried block of tofu with fake tartar sauce, tomato and lettuce on a yummy fresh vegan bun. They usually serve it with some fruit on the side--watermelon slice is my favorite. I've tried it at home but have not been able to replicate...yours looks really close, I'll have to try!
