Cheez-y Biscuits

Scout had these Cheesy Biscuits at a Red Lobster in GF...and loved them...I thought I'd try and make a vegan version for the whole family to enjoy...

(...just a note about RL in general - our server was very conscientious when she found out that I was vegan - she checked the ingredients on the salad dressing and brought me pico de gallo for my baked potato - I love that!)

...I started with just a basic biscuit dough - I almost always use Self-Rising Southern Biscuit Flour - but I've listed a biscuit mix as well...

...just make generous dollops of dough on your baking pan...

...this recipe will make about 6 biscuits...

...brush them generously with melted Earth Balance...

...and bake until golden brown...about 10-12 minutes at 450⁰...

...pile them on a plate...

...break them open and enjoy...

Cheezy Garlicky Biscuits - AKA Red Lobster Biscuits

Baking Mix - 1 cup flour + 1 1/2 tsp baking powder + 1/2 tsp salt + 1 tbsp Earth Balance

or...1 cup Self-Rising Flour and 1 tbsp Earth Balance...

1/3 cup cold water
1/3 cup Daiya cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon italian seasoning

2 T Earth Balance melted

Heat oven to 450.
Combine all ingredients (except melted Earth Balance) in a bowl.
Drop by heaping Tablespoon on an ungreased pan.
Melt Earth Balance and brush it on the biscuits and bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 450⁰.

  1. They look like cheese scones - but scones and biscuits are very similar!

    Yummy

  5. These look delicious!! I will have to try them. I recently started the vegan diet in January and so far I love it, but my boyfriend says otherwise. I normally just make us 2 different meals unfortunately, but one night I tricked him and made garlic bread from homemade French bread - all vegan friendly! My boyfriend loved it and I later told him it was vegan (I had to wait until I knew he liked it LOL). So it looks like I'll have to try out these biscuits because they look great!
