A Clothesline...Finally

...Thanks so much for all the Birthday Love - I really appreciate it...
...remember I said there was more birthday goodness to come and this is what I was talking about...

...I had been wanting a clothesline so very badly...
...so the Man got together with one of our parishoners who welds and made these posts and set them up in the backyard...
...and I'm so happy that I have a clothesline...
...it's had clothes drying on it every day since...

...Scout snapped photo of me painting it with primer...that's all I've gotten done so far - but I'm going to paint it grey and red - the colours of our old Ford 8N tractor...

  1. Oh, Teresa - that is just so cool. I'm hoping the place I move to in the near future will have a clothes line. And you're reminds me of my Mom's clothesline with the very stout end posts. And hers was very heavy gauge wire, so it never sagged, and she didn't need any of those poles to hold them in the center - reminds me of how much I liked sheets day so that when Mom made the beds after washing the sheets, how good they smelled from drying outside. Good memories - so thanks. Take care, from KY.

  2. I know a lot of places do not allow clothelines so I'm glad you got one. Looks a lot like ours until it rusted down and konked me in the head, remember? It is a nice feeling to hang clothes and see them blowing in the wind. MOM

  3. What a wonderful gift!

  4. There is nothing so wonderful as getting into bed when the bedding has been dried outside - such a lovely smell!

It is a magnificent washing line. I have a rotary line - just not the same.

I remember when I was a girl in Nottinghamshire. In the winter the washing froze and I loved pushing the sheets in a solid lump!

  5. I am soooooo jealous of you! I would love to have a clothesline but can't for 2 reasons...
    1. Our home owners association says sorry but no. They're an eye-sore.
    2. With the humidity we have here, I'd be lucky if our clothes ever dried!!

I loooove the smell of clothes that have been basking in the sun all day

  6. Happy Birthday!!! And I LOVE the smell of fresh line dried clothes :)

  7. Happy albeit belated birthday to you!
The red looks great! I Love pulling just dried fabric of the line:)

  8. I pop over to say hi as I have been missing in action for a while. Sorry I missed your birthday, your totally scored on the gifts. I loved your new gardening shoes.

  9. yes, looks very nice - funny how you enjoy something like a clothes line later in life.....it was a chore i never enjoyed as a child. (my memories are that we often had to help mom with the wash...i'm pretty certain those memories hugely overblow our participation in hanging out the clothes!!) love, k

  10. Belated happy birthday wishes to you!

I was so excited when my husband put our clothesline...... sounds silly I guess but the smell of clothes dried in the sunshine is so delicious :0)

I am loving your new gardening clogs. They combine comfort, fashion and utility - all in one.

  11. Okay your clothesline is awesome! I am loving the rocket red. It looks like you get some beautiful breezes too.
    Peace, Angela (Peach Coglo)

  12. So jealous! I grew up with one.

  13. Your cloths line reminds me of my childhood. I love it! We use drying racks and have to haul them outside and it is a pain. I love the idea of a cloths line! :-)

  14. Happy Birthday and happy clothesline! I use mine as much as I can, it's not very big (goes from the porch to the garage in our city lot) but I can fit the cloth diapers and the bed sheets on it at once! Yours looks much bigger and looks like it would hold several loads of clothes at once. Congrats!
