First Day of Seventh Grade...

...we got everything ready the night before and set it by the door so that there would be no rushing around trying to find things in the morning...Scout wanted to use his Papa's old backpack that's been sitting in the closet for years - it's a sturdy one and still in good shape - and I'm all about using what you have...

...everything went smoothly in the morning - I made chocolate chip waffles (Scout's request) and Scout bounded out of bed - even though he was so keyed up that he had trouble sleeping the night before (we had been scaling back his bedtime for a week and he was in bed on time) - Jack was a little upset by the new routine - see how worried he looks that his boy is going to be leaving for the day - and with a bag - anytime you pack a bag - Jack gets worried...

...These photos were taken under protest...

...seventh grade is a milestone - being the beginning of the second half of the 12 year school career - and Scout is really excited about all of his 'electives' - Spanish - Band - Wild Science - Motion and Flight and Transitional Math (that's where they take 7th and 8th grade math the same year - and it will put him a year ahead when he gets to high school as he'll take 9th grade math next year)...

...going...

...going...

...gone...

...it really doesn't seem like a year since I posted this...

  1. More hair for a start! How lovely that he wants to take his dad's bag. Betchya 20cents he has a good year.

Do I spy new flooring? Same windchimes, very sweet, such a good place for them. Just might give that a go.

My daughter came to see us last weekend. She is just about to start her last year of an osteopathy degree, did some work on my neck, such a gentle touch.

Ah, pride in our babies (if she read this I wouldn't say babies, of course!)

  2. Teresa - so glad to see Scout is off to a good start this year. And I, too, think it's neat that he wants to use his Dad's pack. What instrument will he be playing in band? I guess the days are getting a bit cool in the evenings where you are. We've had nights in the 50's and 60's already, and it's been a bit mild compared to other years. Soon the harvest will be greatly upon us. Hope you have a good weekend, even if this is just Thurs! LOL - take care from KY.

It seems so early for kids to go back to school. It's still summer! I think our public school kids don't go back until after Labour Day, which is on Sept 6th this year.

My homeschooled guys will be starting to get a bit of work once September rolls around - they've had it really easy during July and August.

  4. It does seem very early for school to have started. Does that mean he gets out a week or two earlier also (like early June)?

  5. It's hard to believe 7th grade already. He will really enjoy those subjects, like they were made just for him. MOM
