Risk - the longest game EVER!

...I remembered the Man playing Risk with his suitemates in college...and I remembered that the games sometimes went on for days...

...so when I saw this brand new game at a Church Basement Sale last fall for $1.00 - I snatched it up...

...we had not spent the time to read all of the instructions...and so it had languished in the game closet for quite a while...

...but we finally got the game out the other night and read the instructions and started playing...

...then on day 3 we moved it upstairs so that we could play for a few minutes whenever we felt like it...

...we're now on day 5 and it looks like we may never finish this game - territories go back and forth from one play to the next - we keep battling for the same territories - Scout has the awesome 'Airfield' (which adds a point to his score with each roll) - as well as the extra defense die...

...Scout loves this game!

  3. I've never played this game but it sounds like the perfect game for your long cold winters, but I don't know how you find time for it with your busy summer schedule. Playing a little each day is a good idea. MOM

  4. What a coincidence. I just got off the phone with our good friends who live many states away now. Many a hot Florida night spent during our years in Cape Canaveral, playing Risk and drinking a few beers. GOOD TIMES! No one can win a land war in Asia, that's all I remember.

  6. That is awesome. My husband and I play Scrabble and Pente from time to time. I always get antsy and want to put him on a timer because he will spend 15 minutes on each move if you let him!
That is so great you have this game and spend snatches of time playing. The fact that it cost $1 is just the cherry on top.

  9. My husband and boys love that game too. Every once in a while they will convince me to play Monopoly (or Monotony, as I like to call it) but I'm never willing to play Risk - far too long of a game for my liking. ;-)

  10. Ugh! Risk!!!! My husband and son LOVE that game... and I loathe it. I just wish they'd gang up against me, wipe me out, and then they can battle it out and I can do something else. It's a terribly long game.
