...Quilting Prep...

...I've been gearing up to start my LWR quilts for next year - truly hoping not to have a rush next spring...

...The stack of white and lavender polyester was donated - so first you need to cut squares - 35 - 12 inch blocks will make one LWR quilt...

...I laid out the quilt - this one is just going to be alternating blocks of white and purple...

...then I stack each row from left to right...

...and pin each stack together...

...and then stack the pinned stacks and carry them to the sewing machine...

...this is sort of assembly line style quilting - and I made stacks for three quilts during my lunch hour yesterday...and I'm hoping that I can sew one entire set into a quilt top during my lunch hour today - I'll let you know how it goes...

  2. I like that combination of colours also. Will there be bands of solid colour in between? I'm sure you will show us later but I am curious, lol. I've never made a quilt myself but I've been wanting to.

  4. Love the fabric. Will you quilt with knots (is that called hand tied?) or will you stitch on the machine? It's going to be a lovely quilt...

  5. I was going to ask the same thing as Kim - will you tie the quilt or doing hand-quilting? I hope to do some quilting over the winter. I found that Janome has a sewing machine head for treadle sewing machine cabinets, and my landlords said that they may be able to fit the head to one of their old treadle sewing cabinets - how cool would that be? Love the colors of your quilt - lilac is one of my favorite colors - I like just about all pastels.
