...Confirmation Invitations...Tutorial...
...Scout's Confirmation invitations are on their way...so I thought I'd share how we made them...they're super simple to make...
...Scout wanted a gold cross on his invitations...so we brainstormed some ideas...I asked him what kind of cross - Greek-Roman-Celtic...and luckily he just wanted a 'simple cross'...
...so we cut one out of a scrap of foam with an exacto knife...
...we attached it to a paint stirrer...to make a stamp...
...painted it with some gold paint - ink might be better but we used paint...just a little bit...
...we did a few practice stamps...
...it was kinda tricky getting just the right amount of paint...so definitely practice a little bit...
...we printed the text using MS Word - we set the page up as landscape with two columns centered...and just typed the text we needed and printed them out on plain white cardstock...
...this allowed us to print two cards per sheet and then cut them afterwards...
...we cut the red card stock to 5 x 7 inches and the white cards were cut to 4.75 x 6.75 so we'll have a 1/8 inch border of red all the way around the white card...
...then we painted the cross stamp - centered it on the card where we wanted it and stamped a gold cross on each card...we let those dry before proceeding...
...next measure the ribbon...we used a 1/4 inch grosgain ribbon...
...then cut a smaller piece for the little knot...and angle both ends...
...tie a simple knot in the middle...
...of course you need one strip and one knot for each card...
...then using a needle and thread and just one stitch...stitch a knot onto the center of each ribbon...
...position the knotted ribbon at the top of the card - turn it over and affix it to the back...we used clear tape for this because it lies flat...
...so your knot is centered above the gold cross...
...then center the white card on top of the red card...
...and glue in place...
...there's something so satisfying about row upon row of invitations for a special occasion...don't you think?...
