Easter Sweater Update

The Easter sweater is finished - ahead of time - and by that I mean - before midnight on Saturday - so YAY!

The skirt has been quite a challenge - as it needed a lining - at first, I thought that I would just wear a black slip underneath - but I tried that and it looked like I was wearing a sheer skirt with a black slip underneath - not so nice...

...so, I decided that I would have to actually line the skirt - I took it almost completely apart and cut lining from the leftover shiny material from Scout's Darth Vader costume - see it's always nice to keep things like that in the stash FOREVER - here's a better picture of the material...

...anywhoo - after all that - it's a really cute skirt - in fact it's almost too cute - if you know what I mean - it's a little bit too short for what I'm used to - falling just at mid-knee - it's not the pattern's fault - I'm sure it's supposed to be that way - there's no picture of the skirt on a person on the front of the pattern though - I should have made it longer - and I might still - I've got a little bit of extra material - I may just add another flounce below the knee - what do you think?

  2. If you MUST cover all of your knees, a flounce around the bottom should do. But it will look fine as is. MOM

That is so pretty! I LOVE the sweater. I think a flounce would look really pretty, but it looks nice without too!

  4. A gathered flounce that was loosey-goosey would be quite pretty. I learned a good skirt trick: make sure the hem meets the skinniest part of your leg, wherever that may be. It will be the most flattering for your shape. So mine is right below the knee, or all the way to the ankle. Those tend to me my favorite skirts. But mid-calf never work for my shape. Good to know!

  5. What a great outfit! I especially love the great lace detail on the sweater sleeves. I think the skirt will look very nice as is, but I can picture an added "flounce" looking great as well!

  6. I love the sweater, especially the cute sleeves. The skirt is lovely and I think you easily wear it as is. It may be shorter than you're used to wearing but I'm willing to bet someone out there will be wearing one much shorter and you have nothing to worry about...

Hey and good work on the skirt! A lining sounds rather difficult, I would think!

  8. I think mid knee would be great, that is what gives the style its 'swing'. Mid knee isn't a short skirt - as a child of the
60's I know a short skirt when I see one!

However, I also know from my own experience that If I don't feel comfortable in something - I don't wear it!

Give it a try as it is, it is so pretty and modest.

  9. If ever I feel a skirt is just a little to short I were a pair of leggins underneath it.

Personally I think you need to be comfortable otherwise you wont were it so if you think in needs an extra layer then add one.

You have a lot of comments. Great work on the sweater and skirt. I know what you mean about the skirt. It all depends on how you feel about your legs!
