...a Stitch in Time...

....hoping it really will save nine...or more...

...one of the attached cushions on our sofa got torn...no one seems to know how...

..but of course it must be fixed...so I got out my little set of curved upholstery needles and stitched it back up...

...there's a pretty good explanation of the 'blind stitch' here: The Woodworks.

...I don't think you'll be able to see it at all...

...these sofas are almost 7 years old...and I'm definitely not ready to replace them yet...

...all better...what little things are you fixing up around your house?...

  1. Oh the number of things is just too numerous. Boy are you ever handy. Why are upholstery needles curved, and how in the world did you have some on hand? ;)

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Well done! I hope your family appreciates how wonderful it is to have such a handy lady in the house.

I'm very interested in your earlier post about vegan meat. I don't eat meat but sometimes I'm on the lookout for good substitutes. I will check out the online store. Have you ever tried making seitan? I made some a while back (I blogged about it) and it was really good and definitely had a meat-like texture.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. well - we are still finishing our house . . . but fixing up? i'm going to remake a pair of velvet pants that i used to wear into a pair for my girl for christmas this year, and also a fun flannel sheet that a friend gave me into pj pants for my kiddos. so, i guess i'm doing some repurposing. :)

  4. You're so handy! I really need to re-cover our dining room chairs, they have some of the ugliest vinyl seats I've ever seen!

  5. You are so good at fixing things:) I mended a little cardigan yesterday. One happy customer. I'm afraid to look any further into the pile of mending. I might find things they've outgrown...:(

  8. I'vr recently noticed a worn hole in my yellow curtains. I bought them about fifteen years ago.

Decision - shall I replace them?

I like your sofas - very mysterious, that tear!

  10. What a perfect fix! I should probably take your cue and get to repairing some things but right now I'm in super-organization mode (I think it's the nesting stage). We are trying to make more room in the estate for Wee Too so we are downsizing, consolodating, recycling, upcycling, rearranging...oh my.
