...What's for Breakie?...

I'm not sure when we started calling Breakfast 'Breakie'...I guess when Scout was little...

...but I still ask him before bed what he wants for 'Breakie'...silly I know...

...and his choices range from applesauce and oatmeal to chocolate chip waffles (usually only on the weekend)...

...but I often throw in a smoothie instead of his regular orange juice...

...this one has two oranges about a cup of raspberries (not his first choice because of the seeds - but we were out of strawberries)...and a handful of frozen spinach...

...just blend it all up - you can add a little bit of orange juice or water if it's too thick and a couple of spoonfuls of ground flax seeds is good too...

...and it makes plenty of delicious smoothie to get both our mornings off to a great start...

  2. What a great idea! I've been looking for some good liquid "breakie" ideas for me. The girls can digest anything at 6:30, but I cannot! I need something easier on the tummy at that hour. Greg is really into spinach at breakfast, so I always have those ingredients on hand.

  5. Genius move sneaking in the spinach. Although I know Scout is old enough to know it is there, my little ones wouldn't pick up on that yet. Looks yummy!

Just found you and love your blog. (Smoothies are the best, by the way! Even when there is snow all around me:)

  9. I like smoothies and I've been known to add a can of fruit (sometimes in syrup but that's between you, me and the blog reading world.

I would never have thought of adding spinach, a good idea.

  10. Looks delicious. I love flax seed in waffles and smoothies. I also like tofu in smoothies, on occasion, but I do have to be in the mood for that.
