...12.10...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...after I finished the Hosta pillow last week...I still had these three small balls of slightly different coloured balls of burgundy yarn in my stash...and I wanted another burgundy pillow for the den...

...and I'm using Crazy Cool Crochet's Waffle Pillow pattern...

...and I'm trying to blend all three colours of burgundy together...I'm switching colours with every row...you can only do this if you're using three balls because of the back and forth nature of crochet...this is one row of each colour...and I can see the difference up close...

...but once you get a bunch of rows...it's not very noticeable...and the pattern is super easy and fun...

...and then I wanted to repurpose a cookie tin that I had saved a long time ago...so I sanded the logo off of the lid...

...and repainted it red...

...a couple of coats...this paint was leftover from the mailbox project...it was for the flag...and it blended in perfectly with the red that was already on the tin lid...

...and I wrapped the tin container with a cute wrapper that I drew a little cookie jar on...it's so adorable...

...and I filled it up with the Maria cookies that I'd gotten over the weekend...

...and then because I had a wasabi peas tin...I also made another smaller wrapper for it...

...12.8...Over the Weekend...

...Saturday morning...

...we made a ton of pancakes...

...then we finished up the last few jobs on mom's list...

...the kiddos were a huge help...

...we installed three new smoke detectors...

...two downstairs and one upstairs...

...we reorganized all of the gadgets she keeps by her sink for ease of use...

...added a hook and moved the rest of the cups inside the cabinet...

...added another hook for the apple slicer...

...and coloured the lower part of the cabinet door with some oak coloured pens...it had been damaged by mom's previous cat Twighlight...not Kitten...

...we also fixed the bird feeder and reinstalled it on the picture window...

...then we said our goodbyes and headed over to the Man's mom's for a visit...

...then we stopped by the Man's mom's for a visit...and saw this gorgeous sunset from her front window...

...we went for a stroll through the Man's childhood neighborhood to see all the Christmas lights...

...the we got up early Sunday morning to drive home...

...we stowed all of the veg we'd gotten at the Farmer's Market with the Man's mom...

...and unwrapped the pretty paperwhites Mom had given us...

...and noticed that the Christmas cactus that we'd brought in from the porch is about to bloom...just in time for Christmas...

...we did a small and quick shopping trip...mostly to get the week's milks...

...but I picked up a packet of Maria cookies...accidentally vegan...

...and I made the pizza dough that we'd gotten at Stuff Mart...I was surprised that you have to parbake it before you add the sauce...it turned out good though...

...12.6...Dinner and a Movie...sort of...

...my nephew and kiddos came over for dinner...and we had Smash Burgers...

...first I grilled a bunch of buns...

...and the Man made a bunch of smash burgers...two rather small Impossible balls of vegan meat...

...smashed pretty flat...

...and pan fried until nice and brown...

...I cut up some tomatoes and onions and lettuce...

...and we got out a bunch of condiments and set the table for a crowd...

...and sat down to our typical noisy and slightly chaotic but FUN dinner...

...my vegan plate...

...and for dessert...So Delicious mint chocolate chip ice cream...YUM!

...and I was in and out of the room during the movie Arsenal...a Nicholas Cage movie...it looked pretty ruthless though...the kiddos said it was good...have you seen it?

...12.5...Friday Update...at Mom's...

...up early for the drive up to Mom's...

...it was just a nice late fall drive up to the mountains...slightly overcast...which IMO is always better for driving...

...first things first...we gave Mom her little pressies...you'll see them soon...but one of them was a jar of the Scuppernong grape jam from Sissie's grapes...

...Mom said she had a bunch of little 15 minute jobs for me to help her with while we were there...so we sorted through all of her fall decorations and got them into one tote and one bag to go up into the barn loft for storage...and we brought down some Christmas decorations while we were there...

...oh and we had sub sammies for dinner (of course we did...haha)...

...and just put some little Christmas touches all around the house...

...some cheery Christmas signage...

...12.4...Delicious Vegan Food we ate...

...well...since it finally actually feels like fall weather here...it's time for some autumn inspired food...

...the Man made a hearty white bean stew...Cannellini beans...and I had a little bit of leftover peaches and some cucumber and tomato with it...neither of those things are stellar this time of year...but I still like the colour and crunch...

...what delicious food have you been eating lately?...

...12.3...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...the Hosta pillow front is complete...

...this is the back...I'm definitely using the front side though...

...draped over the black pillow...it's just about the perfect size...you want a little bit of negative ease in a pillow...and the little bit of black showing through the spaces doesn't bother me...

...it would probably be nicer if I had another piece of the burgundy cotton to also cover the black front...

...but I'll have enough of this fat quarter leftover to cover the piping for the edge...

...so I made a sandwich with the pillow top...the piping...and the burgundy back (which will cover the print side of the pillow...

...I pinned it really well...and stitched it really slowly to make sure I caught all the layers and nothing slipped...

...and I'm so very happy with how it turned out...

...I maybe could have used a thicker cording in the piping...but it still has a nice small definited edge...

...I LOVE it...
