...we cooked some noodles...
...added tomato sauce, mushrooms and egplant...
....then the noodz...
...and stirred that in...
...then added the leftover Spinach from cooking with Julia...
...and served it wiht french bread...and salad...it was quite yummy...

...2.26...Over the Weekend...

...we had a great weekend...
...which started with waffles...for me...
...and pancakes for the Man...no idea why he prefers those to waffles...as given a choice I will always choose waffles...
...I did the shopping...
...I don't think there's anything new or interesting at all...the spinach is for a Julia Child recipe...
...when I got back...I used my new mop to mop all of the wood floors...
...it's an ingenious system that squeegees all of the water out of the mop...and separates the used water from the clean water...and the floors look great and dry super fast...
...now for the exciting part of the weekend...we were talking about what we were going to do in the litte bedroom...and I thought it would be neat to have a girlie sort of a room for when the grandbabes come to visit...but not over the top...you know...so that other people could comfortably stay there too...so I did a quick search for white wrought iron headboard...amazon...wayfair...ebay and facebook were all targets of the search...so imagine my surprise when I immediately found these two headboards on FB...not wrought iron...but wicker...and I thought they would be perfect...so I quickly bid...and arranged for picking them up...I just love it when the universe gives me exactly what I need or want...haha...
...the super nice couple that was selling these gorgeous headboards...were ex-Air Force...and guess what...they had bought them in 2016 for their two granddaughters...how cool is that...
...so we brought them home...it will actually be a while before we can get to setting up that bedroom...but I'm so happy we found just the right headboards for that room...
...we'll be attaching them to two wooden twin bed frames...it will be a fun room to decorate...
...then I thought I'd try and grow some onions from a vidalia onion that sprouted in our fridge...I divided it up so that each little sprout had some roots...we'll see how it goes...and then I'll plant them outside...
...remember how I said I was trying to be really organized and intentional about where I put things in the kitchen...well we pretty much determined that the dishes on the right wasn't working out too well...
...so I just took everything out of both cabinets...and moved all the glasses from left to right and now the dishes are on the left...right above the dishwasher so that's handy...it'll just take a few days to stop opening the wrong door...haha...
...another lovely thing was this Japenese cat card that I got from my old college Classics professor...she's quite a bit older than me and her husband also a Classics professor recently died...but we've corresponded for years and I'm always so happy to get a letter from her...her kindness and wisdom are so inspiring...
...and finally we enjoyed the warm weather and the full moon...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

...2.24...Dinner and a Movie...and comments...

...first of all...posting my comments to blog friends here...

...to my sweet sissie Karen who blogs from her boat at McCraw Sails...Hey K...Low Water is a funny place to park a boat...haha...the rocky shoreline is pretty...and so is all your sea glass...I've had some short little bananas but I think they were called finger bananas not donkeys...but I love the name donkey banana too...Love, T

...to karen from Pumpkin Sunrise...Hi Karen...your baby blanket is so pretty...it looks so soft...and your daffodils will be blooming so soon...

...to Éphée from L'éphémère quotidienneté des repas et autres trucs de magie...Hi Éphée...that looks like an awesome way to make butternut squash...I'm always on the lookout for a good squash recipe...I love them so much...and your blue eyed pup is so sweet...

...to Penny from Snap That Penny...Hi Penny...your blue spring skies are just lovely...

...and on the reading front...I finished Martin Chuzzelwit...and I'm probably a third of the way through Barnaby Rudge...it's considered one of his 'less popular' novels...and I can sort of see why...it's pretty hard to get to know all of the characters...and it's a bit of work to keep them straight...but Dickens always has a lot of characters...and this one is an historical novel of the 'riots of eighty'...or the Gordon Riots of 1780...started out with burning Catholic churches and houses...if you're British you probably learn about it in history...there's also mention of the American Revolution...which happened just a few years earlier...
...for dinner...we got takeout from a local Mexican...I got a bean burrito and rice...
...and before the movie...we played a couple of games of Jenga...Our Airman loved this game when he was little...it's a little bit too stressful for me...haha...
...and then we made some popcorn...

...and the movie...the Man chose the Christmas episode of Death in Paradise...it was good...I like a good mystery...

...what have you been watching lately?...

~Have a lovely day!

...2.23...Friday House Update...Now and Then...

...Now...
...we set the last of the glass doors in place...Nanny had a door like this between her living room and dining room/kitchen...
...you've not seen the other ones like it but they'll show up in the "Then" section soon...we spackled and sanded and went ahead and painted just this area...
...so we could put the trim the Man had painted back in place...
...we've been a little bit 'challenged' with our curtain measurements...and we had gotten one panel for this back door onto the covered porch...
...and when it didn't quite fit...we thought it was stretched too tightly when it was closed...
...ordered another one just like it...but when it came...it was a good two inches longer than the first one...exact same curtain from the same company...so weird...so I had to completely take out the hem and then cut it off and re-hem it to the same length as the first panel...
...oh well...it fits and matches up and is much more drape-y than before...
...it just aligns with our Home Improvement Creed...absolutely EVERYTHING is going to take (at least) twice as long as you thought...
...and the Man continues to paint one door after another...

Then:
...now back to the past and the carpet installation...
...I wanted to protect the new floors...so we got some Ramboard...
...and taped that down over the newly finished hardwoods...from the front door...
...all the way to the back/garage door...
...and around the column in the big room...as we don't know which way they will travel...
...and first...of course...they had to remove all of the old carpet...

...they opened the windows in the Master bedroom and just chucked it all out the window onto the driveway...we kept hearing the heavy thud---thud---thud---as it hit the concrete...
...and then they cleaned that all up...and rolled out the new carpet on the driveway to cut it before they carried it upstairs...
...and this is the finished carpet in the Master bedroom...
...it's nice and light and bright...and really makes the walls look more 'tan' than they really are...
...the hallway...
...the small bedroom...
...and the guest room...
...and the top of the stairs...we're really happy with it...
...and then we rented the first truck...
...and packed up the first load of 'stuff'...
...and got it all unloaded into the garage...and then for a while we were living in two houses as once...and you can see one of the glass doors leaned up against the wall...

~Have a lovely day!
