...Dinner and a Movie...

...well...dinner was just another one of my super-sized bowls of colourful veggies...

...tonight we have collards...Brussels sprouts...carrots...corn on the cob...broccoli...baby lima beans...and a tomato...

...the sprouts carrots and broccoli were all cooked on the Foreman grill...

...and the movie...was another episode of Endeavour...even though it wasn't my turn...it's kinda mean of me to choose a series...but there are only 4 of them...and they're each about an hour and a half long...so pretty much movie length...

...and they end with such cliff hangers that we may watch another one tomorrow night...

...W.I.A.Y. ...

...a big ol' smoothie for brekkie...
Breakfast - Blackberry-nectarine-kale smoothie...it was a pretty nice combination of flavors...
...one of our 'gardeners'...brought us another bag of okra...
...and he thinks he'll have at least one more before frost...so I'm hoping to put (most of) that one up in the freezer for soups and such this winter...
...but this one...got the George Foreman Grill treatment...YUM!

Lunch - Okra...and somehow I didn't manage to take a photo of my sandwich......sorry...I'm sure you can imagine a Tofu-Lettuce-and-Tomato sandwich though...
...and then we had breakfast for dinner...always one of my favorite meals...so I fried up a vegan sausage patty with some tofu...peppered and salted with kala namak for some eggy flavor...
Dinner - Brinner (Breakfast+Dinner), vegan sausage...eggs and toast...
...and for a snack...this new to me coconut yogurt...I added some blueberries (bloobs)...not my favorite...but OK...
Snack - Coconut Yogurt and Blueberries...

...OK...go ahead and inspire me with what you ate yesterday...

...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...not mine...but Our Girl's...
...this is the blanket she is crocheting for Women's and Children's Hospital...

...and she's having a bit of a problem keeping it square...I think that's a pretty common problem for new crocheters...and she's trying to rectify it by doing some short rows up the sides...

...she plans to do some sort of a white border when she runs out of pink...so that should help too...

...What's in your workbasket?

...Upma...or the most unattractive dish ever...

...I didn't cook with Julia this week...but I'm going to share another recipe...

I've talked before about the Man's good friend Shashi and his simple Indian food...

...Shashi calls this dish Upma...but it has other names as well..

...and it's a savoury dish usually served for breakfast...
...you start with some finely diced onion...
...and carrot...
...and green pepper...
...and just because I'm always trying to find a use for all those kale stems...
...I diced a couple of those as well...
...I'm just using water...but Shashi used oil to cook both the veg...
...and the spice...Cumin, Coriander, and Cilantro...
...and then I used Cream of Wheat for the Semolina...

From Wikipedia...
Semolina is coarsely ground grain, usually wheat, with particles mostly between 0.25 and 0.75 mm in diameter. The same milling grade is sometimes called farina, or grits if made from maize. It refers to two very different products: semolina for porridge is usually steel-cut soft common wheat whereas "durum semolina" used for pasta or gnocchi is coarsely ground from either durum wheat or other hard wheat, usually the latter because it costs less to grow.

Non-durum semolina porridge or farina has come to be known in the United States by the trade name Cream of Wheat.
...and then I added some frozen peas...
...and green beans...
...cooked that for a few minutes...see...rather unappealing looking in the pot...
...and also in the bowl...
...but it tastes really good...

...have you ever tried Upma?...

...over the weekend...

...we had a pretty busy weekend...
...the Man's birthday was a lot of fun...
...and then we had a wedding and a baptism Saturday and Sunday...and those are both fun as well...

...the baptism was the sweet little girl for whom I made this blanket ...

...the wedding was outside...and the weather was gorgeous...

...this is the first wedding the Man has officiated at this outdoor altar...(you've seen it on Easter for sunrise services)...but everyone here tells a funny story about this venue...

...a former pastor looked out the parsonage window one Saturday afternoon...to find a wedding taking place at this altar...not a member...not this Church's pastor (obviously)...apparently...they just though it'd be a pretty place for a wedding...so...I guess they were pretty lucky that nothing else was going on that day...
...and also...the season has changed...so there's a new banner...

...Dinner and a Movie...

...for dinner I turned some of the Man's leftover spaghetti sauce into a sort of rosa sauce...by adding blended cauliflower as the 'cream'...
...it turned out to be pretty delicious...

...the movie was my choice...so I chose Endeavour...Season 4 is now on PBS...it's sort of a prequel to the old Morse series...I like it a lot...

...what have you been watching?

...Friday Favorites...

...don't think I've ever mentioned it before...but I've been playing this little game/app for I think about 5 years now (it's pretty easy to play and a little bit better than a fidget)...I almost always have a game in progress...and 'fiddle' with it every time I have to wait in line or find myself otherwise bored...

...the only other game I play is Words with Friends with my sissie and my Mom...and we almost always have a game of that going as well...

...what games do you like to play on your phone?

...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...our carbon monoxide detector needed a battery...and of course it's some ridiculous size that no one keeps...and since you can't really put up with that beeping...you have to go out right away and buy one of the silly little batteries...

...all of that to explain what I was doing at Stuff-Mart...(looking for a battery...that they also did not have...I finally went to a specialty battery and bulb store and they had one)...
...and it being the end of summer and all...Stuff-Mart has all their summer things on clearance...

...so...I got this weird dress/cover up thingy...at least I think that's what you'd use it for...I really can't imagine where you would wear it...because it definitely needs a lining...
...so on the same clearance rack...they had a plethora of these skimpy tops...for a quarter...25¢ ...they were approximately the right colour...so...I bought three...
...and I cut them off...
...you know where I'm going with this...I'm going to sew them together into a tube...and use it to line the skirt...

...and maybe I'll find some use for the bralette thingy too...
...so this is the skirt detached from it's bra thingy...you can't see it very well here...but it's very sheer...
...maybe ok for a beach cover up...
...ta-daaa...one fully lined skirt...total cost $3...time invested...about 15 minutes...
...and I actually wore it to Church Sunday...
...what have you re-fashioned recently?...

...Tuesdays with Julia...

...it seems like it's been a long time since I've cooked with Julia...so I made two recipes...
...first another version of artichokes...as we probably won't see any fresh artichokes again until next spring...VEGAN ARTICHAUTS AU GRATIN
...and then a peppery sauce...Vegan Sauce Poivrade

...both were really good and all of the particulars are over at The Vegan Version...
