...I love it when the thrift store has exactly what I went in looking for...
...the Man wanted one of these pizza pans with holes in it...just for when we have frozen pizza...
...and while I was there in the 'kitchen' section...I spied this little silicone thing-y...not sure exactly what it is...but it will be perfect for freezing little bits of leftovers...like this chipotle/enchilada sauce...and also it will be perfect for the little 'cubes' of cilantro that I'm always putting into the freezer...

...4.29...W.I.P. Wednesday...
...I needed a new watchband for this 25+ year old watch...
...I had gotten in when I was pregrant with Our Airman...and it was starting to fray...and just generally fall apart...imagine that...haha...
...so I thought...since it is a woven band...that I'd just weave a new one...
...using some rainbow yarn from stash...I set up the loom...
...and just started weaving...
...I started out with 10 warp threads...but cut it down to 8 year as I thought the band was a tiny bit too wide...and I'll just pull the cut thread out at the end...
...after I'd woven enough inches...I cut it off the loom and wove in the warp threads...
...and the new band was done...I was kind of bummed that the rainbow yarn had no purple in it though...
...and it's just the tiniest bit 'wonky'...but I still think it will be fine...
...so I threaded it under the posts...and stitched the little fastener back on...
...and there it is...a new (very colourful) watchband...

...4.27...Over the Weekend...
...we finally picked all of the lettuce in the winter garden...and it was a LOT!...
...washed it about 5 times...and bagged it up in re-used cereal bags and into the fridge...it will last a couple of weeks at least...
...we moved the white phlox that was around the gardenias out to the mailbox...
...and then we planted the miniature rose that our nephew had given us during their recent visit...
...and we planted the peppers in the final section of the garden...fish pepper...Mcmahon's pepper, corno del toro pepper...
...and finally we hung the newly painted geckos back up on the fence...they turned out great...

...4.25...Dinner and a Movie...
...dinner was a Thanksgiving Dinner rewind...with baked tofu, vegan stuffing, cranberry sauce and lemon pepper broccoli...it was scrumptious...
...and the movie was a documentary that I'd put in the queue a while ago...Cape to Cape...it's kind of an adventure documentary of these two mismatched bicyclists who set off to break the the record for an unsupported continental crossing on a bicycle...from North Cape in Norway to Cape Town in South Africa in under 75 days...so it's about their 'disputes' and they're reunion in the end...and all of the harrowing things in between...I enjoyed it...not sure about the Man...haha...
...what have you been watching lately?...
~Have a lovely weekend!
PS...on the reading front...I don't think I mentioned Rebecca...because when I was chatting with Mom on the phone about azaleas and I mentionned her azalea perfume...Mom said she didn't know I was reading it...the perfume was interesting because I've never smelled an azalea that had any scent...but apparently some wild azaleas smell like honesuckle...and there are still perfumes that feature the azalea fragrance...well...having gone down that rabbit hole...haha...I've also finished a re-read of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (and we also watched the very first film version of that)...a silent film from 1903...it was pretty amazing...this version is commented...but I'm sure you can find one that's not...and then I re-read the Wind in the Willows...I didn't read that one as a child myself...but I did read it with Our Airman when he was little...and it was a fun little read...
...now I'm reading another classic...Far from the Madding Crowd...it's very good...what have you been reading lately?...

...4.24...Fix-It Friday...
...I've actually "fixed" this 1/2 cup measure before...way back in 2022...and of course there's a post about it...
...the straight pins that I'd used for that repair finally rusted through...so I got out these teensy-tinsy screws and tools to "fix" it again...
...these screws are from an eyeglass repair kit that the Man had gotten years ago...and they're stainless so they shouldn't rust...
...and since I'd already drilled the holes for the previous fix...this was a super easy job...
...I just found appropriately sized tiny bolts and slipped them through the holes...and added the nut on the back...it's a nice sturdy rust-free fix this time...
...and I'm happy to have the 1/2 cup measure back in the group...
...and I added a 1/8 cup measure from the thrift store too...
...it 'nests' ok with the others...
...and popped them all back in their drawer...
...have you been 'fixing' anything lately?...

...4.23...Delicious Vegan Food we ate...
...this is another of the Man's creations...trying to replicate a creamy vegan miso ramen that I had in Okinawa...first he prepped the green onion, garlic and ginger...I'm trying to get all the steps documented so I can write a 'recipe card'...or just search the ol' blog for it next time...haha...
...then he washed the baby spinach...
...sautéed the shitake mushrooms and onions...
...cubed half a block of silken tofu...and one thing I didn't photograph...he blended the other half with some miso and vegan stock to make the 'cream'...
...added 4 cups of vegan chick'n stock...
...1/2 cup of lentils and the baby spinach...
...then the silken tofu...
...and finally...off heat...the creamed tofu and miso...so as not to cook the miso...
...two generous portions of ramen noodles (from the asian store the other weekend)...in our biggest bowls...in Japan ramen portions are served in enormous bowls...
...ladled the soup over the noodles...
...and we had the MOST delightful ramen bowls ever...

..4.22...W.I.P. Wednesday...
...I had gotten an 18 inch pillow at the thrift store...and just ran it through the washer and dryer...even though it seemed like new...and I got some creamy material from stash...it's actually from the curtains that we took down in our W.V. house...
...but it matches the pillow top pretty perfectly...
...so first...I sewed a square directly onto the pillow form...
...this was just so the white of the pillow form wouldn't show through the open-ness of the crochet...white here...
...and cream here...
...oh...and I should have told y'all about these fancy corner stitches...the pattern for them was so hard to understand...but I found this awesome YT video that explains it...excellently entitled How I crochet Row 21 of the Winter Opulence Square...I do love the internet...haha... ...then I just made an inside out sandwich with the pillow top...the strip enclosing the piping and the square pillow back...and stitched that all together... ...turned it right side out... ...finished top... ...and back... ...slid the pillow form in and stitched up the opening... ...and we have another finished pillow...I inistially thought that I'd put it in the den...where the colours are antique burgundy and swiss coffee...but then I didn't really love the cream coloured pillow on the sofa with the three burgundy ones...it just seemed to stand out to much...
...but you know which room it will go perfectly in... ...right!...the guest room needed one more pillow...haha...and this one is ideal...
