...W.I.P. Wednesday...Mother's Day...

...so this was the "idea"...so oI quickly sketched it out on a piece of scrap paper...including the colours I intended to use...
...then I drew a better template/pattern...using the fonts that I wanted...
...and then in the morning...I lined it up in the corner of a white kitchen towel...and attached it with some masking tape to my fancy schmancy "light box"...aka the east facing front door...and using just a regular pencil transferred the pattern to the cloth...
...then I just started embroidering...using all acrylic threads...so that Mom can bleach the towel to keep it clean...
...and another little Mother's Day pressie was on it's way to my sweet Mom!...

...Over the weekend...

...let's see...what all happened...over the weekend...
...I made croutons...
...and oat milk yogurt...
...you have to wait until the temperature is about 105-110° F
...we got another perfect basket of strawberries...just at the regular grocery store...I love when that happens...absolutely no waste...and they were delicious...
...this little guy appeared on our doorstep...
...and made himself right at home...we're calling him New Kitty...haha...and he's very used to people...no idea where he came from...the Man thinks someone set him out at the Church...he purrs loudly when he's eating...and Callie seems to HATE him...she hisses and hisses at him...but it doesn't faze him a bit...
...the Man got this iron on patch...
...so I ironed it onto a cap for him...
...Saturday evening...I went to the Mother Daughter Banquet again with The Airman's Wife...
...we had a lot of fun...
...and finally Sunday was Mother's Day...and it was just the Man and I celebrating with lunch at a new pub/restaurant...they had a tofu BBQ sandwich...it was interesting...I was expecting sweet pickles...but they were dill...still delicious though...

...and cooked some tofu on the grill...
...I made Nanny's Mexican Cornbread...
...and we had BBQ tofu...with Mexican Cornbread, vegetarian baked beans, and vegan potato salad...

...and for the movie...I chose Wonder...it was a sweet feel good story about some people...

...What I Eat in a Day...as a Vegan...

...breakfast was just an everything bagel with probiotic almond meal cream cheese...coffee and a glass of mango cranberry juice...
...mid morning I was hungry so I made a bowl of grits...and used up the last of the I can't believe it's not butter Vegan...it was OK...but I prefer Earth Balance...so I probably won't buy this brand again...
...lunch was a tofu sammie...just with homemade vegan mayo and lettuce...with some leftover Brussels sprouts and butternut squash...
...and then in the afternoon I was making rice to go with dinner and I was hungry...so I steamed some broccoli and had a little bit of rice and broccoli with soy sauce...it made a good snack...
...then for dinner I had a sort of vegan stew...that I just kind of whipped up when I found this leftover packet of VEGAN SAUCE BRUN in the freezer...so I just made the rice and peas to go with it...it was delicious...and one less thing in the freezer now...

...what did you eat yesterday?...

...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...I finished the flip/flop/bootie remake...
...I said I was going to add some royal blue to the reused slipper tops to make them match the flip/flop soles...and this is the funky free-style design I came up with for that...haha...

...it's just chain stitch through the fabric tops...and then single crochet around the opening...
...and then I just single crocheted the reused top to the soles using the royal blue yarn...
...a couple of things...

...yes...they are a bit big and clownish...the pattern says to use a size smaller than you normally wear...and I can see why...

...and I almost always wear socks with all of my slippers no matter what the sole is made of...but you'd probably want to wear socks with these just for comfort's sake...
...so they're fine for house slippers...the ones in the pattern would be nice enough to wear out...but definitely not this version... ...for wearability...they kind of remind me of these pink fluffy slippers I had when I was little...
...in other knitting news...I've got both of my tan sock remakes to the same level of completeness...and I'll finish off the tops in k2p2 ribbing like I did on the red ones...

...what's in your workbasket?

...Over the Weekend...

...this sweet little guy came and ate up all of Callie's food...she was not amused...
...after I did the weekly shopping...this CRAZY storm blew through...
...and pelted everything with pretty much marble sized hail...
...it piled up some at the house...
...and in the yard...and road...
...the parking lot at the Church was littered with leaves and hail and small branches...
...and an eerie fog rose up over the ice-strewn lawn...
...the hail overwhelmed the gutters on the Church roof and pile up three feet at the side entrance...
...again...mostly marble sized...but some larger pieces...
...it was kind of fun crunching through ice in May...
...and happily...no real damage was done...and we didn't even lose power...
...while I was out shopping I picked up a little Southern Cooking magazine...intending to give it to The Airman's Wife...but as I flipped through it...I thought I'd like to try this Vidalia onion casserole...
...so I bought some Vidalia onions...the Man's Mom once told me that the fatter and flatter the Vidalia the sweeter it will be...so that's what I always look for...
...starting the cooking...carmelized onions take a long time...
...partially cooked some rice and added some almond cream...
...then the onions were done...
...added some sweet paprika...
...and some parsley...
...and cut up some of my homemade mozzarella cheese...
...and sprinkled that over the top...
...baked until golden...
...this smells so good...
...it really is a perfect side dish...
...savoury and a little bit sweet...
...I'm still going to give the cookbook to The Airman's Wife...
...then on Sunday after Church...we went out to celebarte Cinco de Mayo...sort of...it was to celebrate a lot of things really...and to spend some time with The Airman's Wife too...we had a lot of fun chatting and catching up and looking at ultrasound photos...
