...11.29...Over the Weekend...

...we picked up the weekly Instacart shop...
...nothing unusual...except the rather expensive ($4.99) Grape Nuts...we sometimes watch Glen and Friends on YouTube and he had a video for Mock Sausage Patties...they're not vegan...but I was intrigued and wanted to try them...I'll let you know how they turn out...
...the only other interesting thing...was also inspired by TV...haha...we watched the Mrs. Brown's Boys Halloween special...and she (he) often has food items consipicuously placed in the kitchen...and one of them was Barry's Tea...so we ordered some from Amazon...it's a lot like the Yorkshire Gold that Maureen told me about...it's delicious...
...R.I.P. Foreman Grill...he's plugged in here...but sadly...you can see that his little light is not shining...so...I am very, very sad to report the demise of my Foreman Grill...I was surprised to see the date of that post...FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2017...but y'all know he was well loved and well used...I even had the Man take him apart to see if he could be fixed...and sadly...he cannot...oh well...I bet Goodwill has a few more now...
...and I made a lemon bundt cake in my pretty bundt cake pan...which I love...but I'm always just a little bit nervous when I turn it over as sometimes the cakes stick a bit and ruin the pretty effect...but this one did not...and it's just a vegan cake mix...so super easy...

...11.27...Dinner and a Movie...

...dinner was nothing special...a deconstructed salad - romaine leaves and orange...collard greens...BBQ tofu...Foreman grilled 'fried' squash...and some green beans with mushrooms...and tea ...of course...

...and the movie was my choice...and it was Un baiser s'il vous plaît...translated into English as Shall We Kiss?...and it is definitely what I'd call a "romantic comedy"...and it's definitely in French and subtitled...so according to the Man...it already has two strikes against it...haha...

...and parts of it were definitely funny...but I wouldn't say that I was left with a fun feeling about the movie...it was actually pretty sad...oh well...

...what have you been watching lately?...

...11.26...Friday Favorites...

...y'all know that my Mom often gives me hand-me-down clothes...and she gave me this vest...I love the olive-y green and tan...and it's a nice quilted zip front vest...that I'll wear often...
...both of the pockets are frayed like this and so is the inside front...so it just needs a little mending TLC...
...so...I just turned under the frayed bit on the inside front and pinched it together and topstitched it...it'll work fine there as it's not under any stress...it looks a little bit wonky...but I doubt anyone will ever really see it...
...but the pockets...they will be under a bit of stress...as I poke my fists in...or carry keys and phones and what-not...so I cut a strip of a similar weight fabric from my stash...in the closest colourway that I had on hand...and stitched it to the frayed bit of the pocket...because if I'd just resewn the frayed bit...it would very likely have frayed more and torn again...

...looks funny I know...but again...it's inside the pocket...and I'm really sure here that no one will ever see it...
...of course Kitten is fascinated with it...and anything...and I do mean anything left on the floor is HERS...haha...

...11.24...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...OK...it's time to start finishing things up...I picked up the stitches around the neckline...there are a lot of them...194...I'm going to do the same twisted rib as the cuffs...
...so that's done...I slipped it over my shoulders and it looks nice and lies flat...
...one little faux pas...I had left the top stitches of the crocheted front placket open...thinking that I would do ribbing over the top...but that's not the way it's generally done...the placket goes right up to the top...so I'll have to pick those up and single crochet to the top...it won't be as easy as knitting across them would have been...oh well...
...and this is how much yarn I have left over from the 10 balls...not a lot...but enough to finish the seams I'm sure...
...so now...I don't want the front plackets to curl inward while I'm wearing the cardigan...so I want to face them with some ribbon or something...I have some cardis that have a ribbon backing the placket...so I rummaged around in my sewing box and came across this...
...it's actually cotton hem tape...and it's white...
...I think it will work fine...I'm just going to stitch it down over the little ridge formed by the stockinette stitch to single crochet border...

...but it's white...oh wait...I already said that...
...no worries though...I just got out my blue Sharpie...and some isopropyl alcohol...
...and now it's blue...not exactly the right shade...but definitely close enough...

...what's in your workbasket?...

...11.22...Over the Weekend...

...it was a quiet weekend...
...which started...(as they often do) with vegan pancakes...
...and Gardein sausage...
...and then I decided to add a little scrambled tofu to the pan too...because the bigger the breakfast...the better...right...but then I totally did not take a photo of the finished product...oh well...
...picked up the weekly instacart shop...
...and then there were three...I dropped a dish on top of one of my beloved mugs in the sink...neither of them broke but the mug got cracked...I thought about keeping it...it wasn't actually broken...but decided not to...
...all of my watch batteries have died...sort of like socks...if you replace them all at once...they are all likely to wear out at the same time...
...so I just ordered some new ones from Amazon...and replaced aall the batteries...
...we (the Man and I) worked together to make a vegan version of Grandma Ople's Apple Pie recipe...he did the apple part...and I did the crust...
...there's a lot of Earth Balance in there...
...wrapped in my Pie Crust Helper...for a rest...
...I just rolled it out...
...and the Man had the apples all ready...sliced and sauced...
...and then I rolled out the other half to make the pretty lattice top...(I rarely do a lattice topped pie...do you?)...and I got to use my pretty little fluted cutter...
...filled the pie crust and started weaving...
...all done...it really is pretty...I should do it more often...
...brushed the top with almond milk...
...covered with foil...so it can cook through without browning the top too much...
...it turned out so pretty...
...and it was really really delicious...

...11.20...Dinner and a Movie...

...so...the Man made Lentil Soup...
...it was perfect...
...meanwhile...I'd seen these little coiled up flatbreads a while ago on YT...sorry I can't find the video now...so I made the dough...just water yeast and flour...
...divided it into little balls...
...rolled it out...into a somewhat circular shape...haha...it doesn't need to be perfectly round...
...super thin though...
...got out some olive oil...
...and brushed that on the sheet of dough...
...then just lifted an edge and started rolling it up...
...into a little snake...I do love playing with dough...don't you?...
...and then just coiled that up...
...it's so cute...
...and it's like playing with Playdough...
...put them on a tray to rise a bit...
...then I thought it'd be good to use some Earth Balance instead of Olive oil...as there are going to be leftovers and I thought EB would be better for dessert rolls or breakfast...
...so I just melted some Earth Balance and brushed that on the tops of a few...
...I put toothpicks in those so I could tell them apart...
...after they've risen a bit...pat them down flat...
...and then cook them on a griddle like you would tortillas or English Muffins...
...so for dinner...we had a big salad...the lentil soup...and the olive oil coiled buns...
...and then a little bit later...we also tried the buttery ones...
...and they needed more Earth Balance too...haha...
...they are quite flakey and pull apart...almost like croissants...delicious with jam too...

...and it was the Man's choice...and he chose to watch a couple of episodes of Changing Rooms......it just popped up in our Amazon feed...by whatever algorithm that happens...and it's a lot like the old Discovery show Trading Spaces...it's set in Australia...so it's fun to hear that accent and look up the different words they use...like...they call a carpenter a "chippie"...so cute...

...there's just a little too much 'drama' either real or fabricated between the 'friends' as they seem to get angry with each other when they have really no voice in what the designers do...we watched two episodes because they split the house up into two episodes...and that's another thing...there would have been commercial breaks when it originally aired...and they spend way too much time recapping what had just happened in the previous 15 minutes or so...and you end up watching most of the show twice...

...what have you been watching lately?...
