...we've had a little bit of a cold snap...it got down to 38° F (-13° C)...
...so...although it's not frosted yet...I thought I'd go ahead and pull this gorgeous (free) squash off the vine...I'm going to leave the little guy until it actually does frost...and let him get a little bit bigger...
...so that's my harvest for the year...not sure the other one will even get big enough...but I seriously put 2 squash seeds in the ground this past spring...and I may get two squash from them...haha...so I'm quite the master gardener...haha...
...how was your harvest this year?...

I did get some tomatoes and peppers. They didn’t do as well as I’d hoped, but they did go weeks without any attention when we were away. Mine were almost free as well. Denise gave me the plants, but I ended up buying a $10 spray to try to combat leaf wilt (organic copper spray). So I have to count that as a cost. I think I came out better than even, but not much! Love, K
ReplyDeleteHey K,
Delete...I may try some 'maters' next year...with my sunnier backyard...but we get some many 'gifted' that I may not bother....haha...

Haha! Yes you have a green thumb!
ReplyDeleteI planted more than that and harvested.... only one!
Squirrels stole all the others ;-)
Enjoy! It's so fun to eat what we grow!

Butternuts are my favorite of the squashes. We had our best crop yet--though I don't quite know what we did differently. We've got ten in the basement still, in addition to a handful already consumed. Mmmmmmm! I love 'em. Enjoy your precious harvest!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth,
Delete...mine too...we had a bumper crop in North Dakota...here only one and a half...haha...still I'm going to plant a couple of seeds next year too...
