...11.26...Friday Favorites...

...y'all know that my Mom often gives me hand-me-down clothes...and she gave me this vest...I love the olive-y green and tan...and it's a nice quilted zip front vest...that I'll wear often...
...both of the pockets are frayed like this and so is the inside front...so it just needs a little mending TLC...
...so...I just turned under the frayed bit on the inside front and pinched it together and topstitched it...it'll work fine there as it's not under any stress...it looks a little bit wonky...but I doubt anyone will ever really see it...
...but the pockets...they will be under a bit of stress...as I poke my fists in...or carry keys and phones and what-not...so I cut a strip of a similar weight fabric from my stash...in the closest colourway that I had on hand...and stitched it to the frayed bit of the pocket...because if I'd just resewn the frayed bit...it would very likely have frayed more and torn again...

...looks funny I know...but again...it's inside the pocket...and I'm really sure here that no one will ever see it...
...of course Kitten is fascinated with it...and anything...and I do mean anything left on the floor is HERS...haha...

  1. Great job on the vest repair!!! I love how you redid the pockets. That silky material frays so easily, and reinforcing them with a sturdier material is great thinking. Well done!!!

  2. Love that color too! I've sewn a "pocket extension" on some jeans that had these little short pockets. Not really good for much, so I added about 4" the the bottom of the pocket. Now they're my favorite because I can stick my phone, etc. in them and not carry anything in my hands. Love, K

    1. Hey K,
...that's such a good idea...I've got some loose khakis that I could probably do that to...
      Love,
