...11.30...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...a little more progress on the two tone burgundy striped socks...I'm going to do one more band of the dark burgundy and then do the heel in the lighter shade...
...so I knew I had posted about these "Made in the USA" socks...so I searched the ol' blog...and it was really only a little more than a year ago...so these are not super long wearing socks...and several of them have sprouted holes...so I did a little bit of darning...
...I like to darn with a different colour...usually red for some reason...I could have used grey and white instead...of course...
...but I just like the look of darned socks...so cozy and homey and cared for...

...11.29...Tuesdays with Julia...

...we had some delicious VEGAN TRANCHES DE JAMBON À LA CRÈME...

...we had Julia's steamed rice with Mom on Monday...and she asked how I got it so perfectly fluffy...so I'm including the recipe here...it's how I always make rice now...and it turns out perfectly every single time...VEGAN RIZ À L'INDIENNE - RIZ À LA VAPEUR...
...only I forgot to add any tomato paste to the recipe...so you'll have to imagine it with a rosier sauce...haha...

...it was still really delicious with this Dijon mustard sauce...and all of the particulars are over at The Vegan Version...

...11.28...Over the Weekend...

...the new Church sign is operational...
...it's beautiful...they put it into the existing structure...which was nice...and now we have the ability to put lots of different things on the sign...along with the time and weather...haha...
...it was the weekend for decorating the Church...so the guys did the yardwork...putting up the luminaries and the Nativity...
...the Nativity has been repainted...we were told it's between 40 and 50 years old...and it's been repainted once before...you can see the previous version in this post...you can see the old sign in that post as well...
...I love the newly painted Nativity...it looks much more realistic now...
...and we gathered inside to decorate the Chrismon Tree...the guys had gotten it into the building and in it's stand yesterday...
...lots of lights...
...and lots of Chrismons...
...it's beautiful...
...then I did a fairly large shopping run this week...the oats are for other recipes so they don't have to be Quaker this week...haha...
...I got a $1 tote of bananas...YAY!...I love it when they have those...
...a couple of vegan treats for Mom's upcoming visit...we'll be traveling to the coast together for my Uncle's funeral...
...we got a bunch of frozen food to replenish our supply...
...the Vegan croissants we actually brought home from our trip to the mountains...they were just still on the counter...I'm going to freeze them for later...
...or maybe not...I had one with some more of that spiced cider that Mom gave us...it was yummy...
...and then...I usually see if any plastic lids that I happen to get will fit any of my existing dishes...I've found lids for lots of bowls that don't traditionally have lids...and that's the case here...the Oatmeal lid fits this antique bowl from North Dakota...
...I LOVE it when that happens...now I've got another bowl I can store leftovers in without waste...
...so neat to see the luminaries for the first time this year...

...11.26...Dinner and a Movie...

...back home...we heated up the spiced cider Mom gave us...and sipped on that...
...while we decorated our little tree...
...I griddler'ed some California veg...
...and then we just had leftover vegan roast...a delicious baked potato and a big salad for dinner...super easy...

...and we finished the Magpie Murder series for the movie...it was good...but we had both figured out the murderer in the present day mystery...but not the one in the Magpie mystery...the Man said that I picked him out early just because he always plays a nefarious character...haha...

...what have you been watching lately?...

...11.25...Friday Favorites...Family Time...

...we loaded up Our Airman's 'antique' car...and moved it up to the Man's Mom's garage...to keep it out of the weather better than we can do here...and...it was just cheaper to rent the truck and the trailer...than just to rent the trailer...is that crazy or what...
...wildlife we spotted at Mom's...this 4 point Buck...with his harem...we often see this herd...but rarely see the Buck...
...and a pretty white squirrel...
...and playing with other 'wild' life...haha...my sweet niece and nephew...we spent some time drawing on the pavement...so much fun...
...a beautiful turkey...
...and Happy Thanksgiving...
...and lots of other doodles...
...and we played some ball too...
...I finished the bear's sign...and my sweet SIL brought me some puzzles...
...the finished sign...
...Time to Hibernate...
...beautiful puzzles...

...11.24...Vegan Thanksgiving...

...we got up early...but just sat around chatting...drinking tea...and crafting...and finally about 11:30 we ate breakfast...but it was really brunch because except for snacking around on the cheeze ball later in the afternoon we didn't eat another meal...
...but later in the afternoon...we started prepping for dinner...I got out the vegan roast...
...I mixed up an herb butter...
...and then schmeared it on the vegan roast...
...and Mom made the sides...delicious white turnips from my sweet brother and SIL's garden...peas...a big salad...and Grandma's Mashed...of course...
...this was my delicious overstuffing feast...
...and the vegan pecan pie for dessert...

...it was a wonderful Thanksgiving...

...hope yours was too...

...11.23...W.I.P. Wednesday...from Mom's...

...today's post comes to you from Mom's...so you get the obligatory view from Mom's house...always beautiful...
...and before we left...I got out these three balls of burgundy cotton from stash...maybe you can see the slight variation in colour...
...from another angle...the darker ones are from the Holiday Candy socks a couple of years ago...and the slightly lighter burgundy is from the dishcloth that my sweet niece made for her Mama when she was visiting...(you can see it all the way at the bottom of that post)...
...and of course I'm just using my FAVORITE SOCK PATTERN...it's from the ages old We Tend to Our Knitting booklet that my sweet sissie and I found in the trunk up at Nanny's...and that my Mom and Nanny used the pictures from to teach me to knit when I was 8...the pattern is in that post...but I practically have it memorized I've made it so many times...and I'm making the ribbed part taller as I often do...and it will be striped with the two different burgundies...it's subtle but I think you can see the stripe here on Mom's sofa...
...and you didn't think I'd come to Mom's and not do a project did you???...haha...remember the Bear Welcome sign that we refurbished a few weeks ago...
...Mom said she'd like to have something different...more 'seasonal' message printed on the back side...so we sanded it and I printed Time to Hibernate...it's still a work in progress...but I'll paint it like the front...a black outline and red in the center...I'll be sure to post a completed picture...
