...so...this is the very last post about the 2022 Read Harder Challenge...I've finished the last book on my list...Furiously Happy by Jenny Larson...it has a subtitle... A Funny Book about Horrible Things...and I would recommend it...it is funny...but it's also serious...being mostly about her struggle with mental illness...and it's about the support and love she's received...it's a good book...
...so right now...I'm in a bit of a hiatus...not...haha...
...I'd gotten this book at a library sale quite a while ago (I think for 25¢ )...and it's just been sitting there on the shelf waiting for just such a hiatus...
...it's Claudius the god...the sequel to I, Claudius...which I read so many years ago...when I was teaching Latin...I think I enjoyed it more (maybe much more) than my students...haha...much like the Screwtape Letters which I'm reading with the Confirmands now...also...haha...
...and I say a hiatus because I'm on the waiting list for Dune...the new movie must have made a surge in requests for the books at the library...I mentioned that Our Airman and I both watched the new movie (on separate airplanes) during our recent trip to New Mexico...and I read the first book back in the 80s...my big brother had a copy...and I think maybe his youth group at Church read it...you know for it's Messianic properties...I did slog through that one way back then...and I'm not a Sci-Fi fan AT ALL...but I'm going to re-read that one...and then read the entire series...or Herbert's 6 books anyway... Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune, Chapterhouse: Dune...
...one of our parishioners brought us a bag of squash and cucumbers...
...and Jack inspected them for us before I put them away...
...and dollie now has an arm...you can see just how fiddly those long needles are too...I have to shift things around every few STITCHES!...arghhh.
...but it's a satisfactory arm...with a cute little thumb and palm...
~Wishing you a lovely weekend!

I don't think I'd enjoy the Claudius books....and I still think that dollie is disturbing, haha. Love, K
ReplyDeleteMatt read the first Dune. His dad owns the set in paperback, having read it decades back. Based on the tidbits Matt shared as he read I thought it would be a series I'd like to read one day. I hope you enjoy it. And your squash!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth,
Delete...I just got the first Dune book from the library...so I'll start my re-read soon...hoping I enjoy it as sci-fi is not usually my cup of tea...
~Have a lovely day!
