Green Belt...or...7th Kyu...
...this past week has been a flurry of preparations for the karate rank test...there are so many things to learn...lots of new words...you see Tae Kwon Do was a Korean martial art...so all of the terms were in Korean...and Karate (at least the version at this dojo) is Japanese...so, you guessed it...all of the terms are in Japanese...so Scout has been studying every spare moment...and practicing forms (or Katas) before and after school too...
...last night he donned his orange belt for the last time...
...I'm pretty sure this was the Heian Shodan portion of the test...
...some specific Orange-to-Green quizzing...
...Scout performing a roundhouse...or a Mawashi...I just thought it was funny that I got the video camera in the corner of this one...it was on a tripod out of the way of the action...
...some sparring techniques...or maybe one-steps...or maybe blocking techniques...it's hard for me to tell as the Sensei gives the commands in Japanese...
...this is the Heian Nidan portion of the test...and the Sensei had them start with their backs to one another...no cheating...
...and that was it...another successful testing experience...
...Scout was happy and on the way home he said...'I'm always so glad when that's over...'
