...on these first chilly days of fall...soup sounded good...
...so I popped some baked tofu in the oven...haha...
...this is the teriyaki style baked tofu...and really just needs to be heated through...I don't normally buy this kind...but it was on sale...so I did...
...and then...also not soup-related...I baked another butternut squash...
...half sweet and half savoury...'cause the Man prefers his sweet...and I do not...
...and washed the seeds...
...and baked those too...
...and now...on to the soup...we followed this recipe...for a "Very Good Split Pea Soup"...
...just a big ol' pot of split pea soup...warm...hearty and comforting...perfect for fall...
...and garnished with a storebought Roma tomato and some of the roasted squash seeds...
...and right when the soup was ready the squash was as well...
...we added some green beans and spinach...and a roll....and dinner was served...
...and realizing that this is a lot of green on one plate......Participating in Eat Your Greens...
...so hop over to A2K - A Seasonal Veg Table or The Veg Hog to learn more...
...and for the movie...the kiddos were home...carving pumpkins...(more on that later)...and we watched ParaNorman with them...
...maybe an odd choice for these 20-something young adults...but they were commenting that they had neither one seen it as "children"...haha...they would have been teenagers when it came out...
...but we were happy to watch it with them...it was sweet and kinda sad...have you seen it?...
,,,what have you been watching lately?...

It seems you have far more variety of tofu there to purchase. It seems a bit odd because we have so many Asians here and one would think there is more variety for them alone. I do love your butternut squash and the soup. It is the season for more soups. I made chicken soup last night and bannock. It hit the spot. I haven't heard of the movie you watched. I haven't watch any movies over the last several days just PVR (recordings of various shows I record to watch later). Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi Penny,
DeleteYes...I do love my tofu...and I'm thankful that we can get all kinds...

I haven't had split pea soup in a long while and now you honestly have me hankering for some. I have already planned what we are eating this week, so will try and remember to make a soup this w/e, it is getting rather nippy hre. Thanks for sharing your oh so green dinner with #EatYourGreens this month. I've not watch ParaNorman, so will look out for it - chances are it may appear on the TV with kids being on half-term this week.

Ohh, so fall-y!! Love some split pea soup. I like to add a bit of "Smoke" flavoring.
