...prior to this weekend...
...remember the cast iron griddle that Mom gave us...
...I scrubbed him really really well...
...so he was pretty much stripped down to bare metal...
...and then I re-seasoned him with some Crisco vegetable shortening...
...just put him in the oven for a bit...when he was nice and hot...I just slathered Crisco all over both sides...and put him back in the oven for about an hour...
...so he was shiny clean and ready for pancakes on Saturday morning...
...so we had yummy vegan pancakes...then I did the grocery shopping...and hurried home...
...because I had to get ready for the Hobo Supper...which is our annual Food Bank fundraiser at church...
...first I had to make Mom's Black Walnut Pound Cake for the cake auction...
...and then I had to make some vegan cornbread and vegan slaw...which is just cabbage, carrots and Vegan Mayo...
...but since I was going to be the only person eating this cornbread...and because my favorite part of cornbread is the crust...
...I decided to make a really thin...mostly crust...vegan cornbread...
...it was perfect...
...and my plate of vegan hobo food was delicious...
...there was a good crowd...we had the kid's cake walk...and then the auction of all the cakes and baskets...Mom's Black Walnut Pound Cake sold for $50...isn't that AWESOME!
...and then we celebrated Father's Day with the Man...it was a lot of fun...we had the Donuts for Dads Father's Day breakfast at Church...then we took him to his favorite Mexican Restaurant for lunch...then home for cards and presents...
~Have a lovely day!

Wow! Well done on the cake auction :-)
ReplyDeletesounds like you had a very busy weekend!!
ReplyDeletelove, k
$50! You are clearly known for quality.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how you brought the griddle back to life. It reminded me of learning how to 'non stick' an ordinary frying pan when I was at school. Put a lot of cheap salt to cover the bottom well in the clean pan and then heat it for a long time. From then on never wash it but wipe it out. Never fails!
