...this happened...
...can you tell what they're doing?...
...Our Girl is crocheting and Scout is knitting...
...Scout only needed a little refresher course for knitting...Oh... it was so long ago when I taught him to knit...I still have that little camo pot holder too...just look at that sweet face and that Tiger Cub T-shirt...they don't even make those any more...
...and Our Girl caught on REALLY quickly to crochet basics...so her blanket will be all single crochet and his will be straight garter stitch...pink and green respectively...
...results so far...
...our N.O.A.H. group at Church is sponsoring a baby blanket drive for the women and babies at the local Women and Children's Hospital...
...so several people who don't normally participate in N.O.A.H. (Scout and Our Girl) are making blankets...
...so...sweet!
~Have a lovely day!

Post war and up to the 60s most men in the UK could knit. It was a skill encouraged during the war and the Imperial War Museum has jumpers knitted by Prisoners of War and very skilfully done some of them are.
ReplyDeleteoh, that is SO SWEET!!!

Beautiful! I love it when young people (and young boys and men) learn to do hand crafts and keep the skills alive. I remember when my nephew wanted to sew as a young boy and he got his grandma to teach him some straight stitching then took sewing class in school. He doesn't do it now but I'm sure he could when the desire struck him. Recently his girlfriend wanted to learn how to knit. I've been gifting her with needles, yarn and simple instructions. Well done to your boy and girl. Long may they continue with the works of their hands.
