...It's been a while since I've posted about the Read Harder Challenge...I've finished The Neverending Story...and I absolutely loved it...
...so next up was a literary magazine...new-to-you...well they're all new-to-me...haha...but I chose The Atlantic...and this is the first thing that I've spent any money on...just relying on my local library for all the other books...
...I enjoyed The Atlantic too...the articles are well written...a lot of this issue was about current politcal issues...
...the next book on the list was the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society...and I've had it since I was in the book club in West Virginia...the criteria that it matches is a book recommended by a friend with different reading tastes...and in that book club we had a Sci-Fi fan...and a Classics fan...and a Romance fan...and this book was chosen by the romance lover...and so of course I didn't think that I would like it...
...but I really did like it...it was really just a sweet story about some people...not of lot of "love story" to it...until the very end...and that was kind of abrupt...
...so that was a surprise...don't ya just love my sweet little bookmarker...the youth at Church made those a few years ago...and I guess technically I did spend money on this book...but it was about 10 years ago...and also technically we purchased the Classic book series that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's book was in...and On the Road...my least favorite read so far...but both of those are probably over 30 years old...haha...
...next up was Virginia Woolf's A Writer's Diary...and I also loved it...it's an abridged diary...the entries selected by her husband...it was really neat to hear her voice talking about the writing process...and all of the little relationships and trivial little daily things...I do love reading diaries...do you?...
...right now...I'm almost half way through "The Best Mystery Stories of the Year 2021"...so far they've all been good...
...and here's an update on the puzzle since we got back from New Mexico...
...and finally...Confirmation Sunday is this Sunday...bka...Pentecost...haha...anywhooo...I wanted to give the Confirmands a little something-something...so I printed out these Emergency Numbers to make them each a little bookmarker...someone had emailed it to me...and this is just a screenshot printed out on regular paper...then I coloured in each of the roses...it turned out pretty...
...so then I glued them to another sheet of paper...just to make them more of a cardstock thickness...
....and while they were still on the sheet...
...I 'laminated' them...haha...just by coating each side with a piece of packing tape...
...and then I cut them out...I love the way these turned out...you can tell I'm a big fan of bookmarkers...haha...

Way to go on getting all those books read. One year I did a read through the alphabet challenge. Loved it and probably should do that once again.
ReplyDeleteThose bookmarks are very cute. Never would of thought of using packing tape as a lamination product.
God bless.
Wow, you're busy! I've used packing tape like you have as well - works really well and costs almost nothing. Love, K
ReplyDeleteI have read more this year than ever, I love that. I go into moods of when I want to read and what I want to read. Loved the bookmark.
