I have been doing pretty well with the freezer 'eat-down'...not too much today though...
...breakfast was a big bowl of oatmeal...cooked which is not really my favorite way to eat oatmeal...but I added raisins, cranberries, brown sugar and a chopped apple...it was pretty yummy that way...
...for a mid-morning snack I had some toasted French bread with apricot jam...pretty much my breakfast every day when I was in France all those years ago...
...for lunch though...I did eat a bowl of chili from the freezer...with some saltines...now I don't think there's any chili left in the freezer...
...for dinner I baked some tofu cutlets...
...and while the oven was on...I baked a few of the beyond chick'n tenders...just for a snack...which I ate with BBQ sauce...
...and then for dinner...I 'fried' some cabbage...and we had vegan cornbread and tofu with that...and the sauce was the new accidentally vegan one from Dukes...

...11.29...W.I.P. Wednesday...
...I had to take a few more things to Our Airman's storage unit...so I got another ball of yarn...and knit a few (very few) more rows...
...mostly still just sorting and packing...the Salvation Army truck is coming Friday to take away the dining room chairs and the old red loveseat...and Our Airman's 55 gallon aquarium...so hopefully those things will find new homes and benefit someone else...

...11.28...
...since I didn't cook with Julia this week...and I did a very abbreviated grocery shop this week...so thrilled that they had my 10% protein milk again...not so thrilled that I needed to buy both corn meal and self rising flour...as now those will both have to be moved to the new house...

...11.27...Over the Thanksgiving Weekend...
...Thanksgiving weather was pretty gorgeous...
...and Mom said she was not going to do traditional Thanksgiving fare...
...she had the whole timeline mapped out so that everything would get done and on the table on time...so we started early prepping the veg for the grill...
...Brussels Sprouts ready to roast...
...sliced a bunch of peppers for the grill....
...and added some onions to the grill pan...
...went ahead and sauteed some mushrooms...
...and scrubbed the grill...
...the Man did the grilling and everything was ready all at once...left to right...grilled peppers and onions...creamed corn that Mom had frozen...roasted Brussels sprouts...mashed potatoes (Grandma's mashed)...gravy and mushrooms...and the burgers of course...
...oh...and Mom's delicious coleslaw...nobody makes coleslaw like Mom...my overstuffed plate...it was all really delicious...and we had such a good time visiting...it was 'just' warm enough to sit outside...I had on long sleeves and a sweater...
...after lunch the kiddos wanted to go to the river...of course...it's so much fun...
...I can't believe how big they're getting...my niece drove the buggy down...she did a great job...
...I also can't believe how grown up the field is...this was horse pasture when I was a teenager...
...my niece running down to the river...
...it's so beautiful and peaceful here...
...this was also our horse pasture...it's still pretty much as I remember it...
...we walked up to the old swimming hole...you can still see the ropes in the tree...
...we drove by the Church where we were married...
...it's always fun to see it...
...and the Church here got decorated as well...
...it's always so beautiful during Advent and Christmas...

..11.24....Friday Update...
...we were up well before dawn to drive up to the mountains...almost no traffic...it was a nice drive...
...so we're spending the day with family today...I'll do a whole post about Thanksgiving...
...Posting some comments to blog friends here...again...
...to my sweet sissie Karen who blogs from her boat at McCraw Sails...Hey K...I think your sunrises are gorgeous...glad you're just about to jump over to the Bahamas...Love, T
...to karen from Pumpkin Sunrise...Hi Karen...so glad you're hands are feeling better...your Thanksgiving plans sound delightful...one of the things we're looking forward to with the Man's retirement is getting to spend more time with our families...as pastors 'work' on weekends when most of those gatherings take place...
...to Éphée from L'éphémère quotidienneté des repas et autres trucs de magie...Hi Éphée...gorgeous lake views...I loved your quiche it looks so delicious...
...to Penny from Snap That Penny...Hi Penny...I loved seeing your grey November skies...so cozy...
...on the reading front...
...I've finished Nicholas Nickleby...and Penny recommended an old black and white version of that movie...so I'll put that in the queue...because after Oliver Twist it'll have to be the Man's turn...and I've just started The Old Curiosity Shop...I remember this story...and it's a sad one...most Dickens stories actually have somewhat happy endings...and this one ends with the heroine's death...
...what have you been reading lately?
HAPPY THANKSGIVING...have a lovely day!

...11.23...What I Ate in a Day... as a Vegan...
...so let's see how we're doing with the freezer cleanout...
...for breakfast I made a couple of tvp sausage patties...
...the tvp was in the freezer...and I've probably got enough still to make this about 8 more times...soooo...probably not going to get that all used up...
...and the biscuits were the last of a bag of leftover biscuits from the freezer...
...I had a salad for lunch that did not come from the freezer...obvi...but I used up the last of a bottle of Daiya dressing from the fridge...
...but then I ate a big bowl of veggie soup that did come from the freezer...
...for a snack I Griddler-ed a bag of frozen green beans and then ate them out of hand like popcorn...weird...I know...
...and I used up another third or so of this bag of tropical fruit for a delicious smoothie...one more and it's done...
...for dinner...not too much from the freezer...but we had some squash in the fridge that needed to be used up...so I Griddler-ed that...
...and the asparagus and seitan actually did come from the freezer...
...what did you eat yesterday?...

...11.20...Over the Weekend...
...the first load of 'stuff' has been moved...
...we rented another U-haul...and parked it out back of the parsonage...
...and starting with the biggest/heaviest things...we dismantled the bed...
...and cinched that king-sized mattress into something that hopefully we'll be able to carry...
...we got it nice and tightly bound up...hopefully we'll be able to get it all the way upstairs at the new house...
...I removed all of the drawers from my antique dresser before loading it onto the truck...and thought my sock drawer was funny...I think I need to stop knitting socks...there are 27 pairs of hand-knit socks in there...I think that may be too many socks for one person...haha...
...we got everything that we intended to onto the truck...and I would say that it wasn't even fully packed...but we got it all to the new house...
...and unloaded it all and turned in the truck before 5:00...
...and then started putting everything away...
...the bed being the most important piece of furniture to get set up at once...you know...so we'd have a place to sleep
...and we did manage to haul that huge mattress up the stairs and into the master bedroom...
...we have actually spent the night here before...so I'll post a little snap of that...
...we have a pretty comfortable blow up mattress that we used when we were getting things set up...and we'll be using it back at the parsonage now until the end of the year...haha...
...I'll go back and do a bunch of posts to get you caught up to where we are now...
...and now to give you a bit of a reference point...I'm going to post the realtor's photos from before we bought the house...so none of these are mine... ...so that's the tour of the house...'before'...
