...Sweet little pink Baby Gown...

...I mentioned before that I had found the pattern for Our Airman's Baptism Gown in my pattern bin...(more on that later)...but in the same magazine there was a pattern for this sweet little gown...and when I looked closely at it...I determined that I had almost that same soft pink striped flannel in my stash...
...there was a little chart for the pattern...just two simple pieces...and then a little bit of bias for the neckline...
...so I enlarged the pattern...
...and this is the material...well...these are the pajama bottoms faded patched and pretty much worn out...

...my sweet mama had sent them to me when we lived in North Dakota...and I wore them OUT...the bottoms only though...because I always wore them...but the pajama top (or shirt)...I pretty much just used as a jacket over a tee shirt...then when I went to bed...I took off the jacket and slept just in the bottoms and the tee shirt...so...only the bottoms got worn out...and they are pretty much unusable...they even got patched because when Jack was a puppy (14 years ago)...he would tug at my pajama legs with his sharp little puppy teeth...

...when I told Mom that I was repurposing these pajamas...she said..."well I never.."...haha...she remembered the pajamas though...
...and here is the practically pristine top/shirt/jacket...that I'll be using to make the sweet little gown...
...it was pretty simple to cut out...
...and I kept the front button placket for the opening...I think it will be cute...
...a little elastic at the arms...a couple of seams...and a snap at the top where the button didn't quite line up...

...I threaded some thicker elastic through the bottom...because those little gowns with elastic at the bottom are so handy for middle of the night changes...the pattern called for a drawstring...but I don't thing that's done anymore...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. I have made several small garments out of Papi's shirts. I love to think of Ernest wearing his grandfather's clothes. Second hand baby clothes are so cheap here, people do not seem to want them. I wash them in a hot wash and what survives get sent to France. Today I sent 4.8 kilos, the only items new are baby tights which are very hard to find, I expect that they get worn out. We fly out in 3 weeks, can't wait. The babies are growing so big, have their first vaccinations on Monday!
