...4.16...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...I needed to darn my favorite walking socks before they completely wore a hole...
...so I popped my darning egg inside the heel...and started with some 'vertical' stitches...I say vertical because these stitches run with the vertical knit structure...
...and then I just weave 'horizontally' across those stitches...until I have a pretty well covered patch...
...and then I just randomly go back and forth diagonally until the patch is about the same thickness of the original knit...
...and that's it...
...I know some people pooh-pooh the idea of darning socks...
...but it really only takes a few minutes...and I do it when I'm watching television...usually the Man's politico or bloomberg because those shows are mostly just talk...I wouldn't do it during a good mystery that I was interested in because I do have to look at it...(that's when I do some plain stockinette...haha)...
...and I love it...this weaving method is different from how I darn handknit socks where I usually do a duplicate stitch over the original knitting...that is...if I've caught it in time...haha...reduce/reuse/recycle...right?...or wear-it-out/use-it-up...just trying to minimize waste as much as possible...

...so do you darn or mend your socks when they start to wear out...

...what's in your workbasket this week?

~Have a lovely day!

  3. I've never darned socks because I don't own any wool socks except for one pair which I like and now need to be darned, lol.
