...W.I.P. Friday...

...the new smaller bottom belt came...so I gathered all the tools again...
...I had to remove the belt that I put on day before yesterday...to get to the new one on the bottom...
...removed that belt and replaced it with a shiny new orange one...
...and it worked...I don't think I mentioned it before...but one of the slippage problems was that when you engaged the bobbin winder it slipped...and now it doesn't...

...I'm pretty pleased to have worked out how to change the belts...ut since it apparently only needs to be changed once every 20 years of so...I'm not sure I'll have to change it again...and I haven't got a project to test it out on...but I'm sure it's just a matter of time...

...it's Yummy...
...Lunch was a delicious bowl of pinto beans...rice and greens...and tea...of course...
...later in the afternoon I had a couple of mandarins and some romaine lettuce...so glad the lettuce scare is over for a while...
...and dinner was bean soup, home fries, potato pancakes, and fried cabbage...photo taken on the stove before I carried everything to the table...and I intended to take a plated photo...but then I forgot...

...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...my old...old...old...sewing machine had a slipping problem...if you tried to sew anything thick or heavy...it would slip and the needle just wouldn't go through the cloth...
...so I found the part number and ordered a new belt...
...and opened her up...truly the most difficult part of the process was opening the machine...so...so...difficult...
...but I succeeded and replaced the old black belt with the new orange one...
...and put everything back...
...and guess what...absolutely no effect on the slippage...ARGHHHH!...

...oh well...there's another belt on the bottom...maybe that's the drive belt...stay tuned...there will be a sequel...and now that I know how to get the machine open...it should be simpler...

...what's in your workbasket?...

...Over the Weekend...

...it was another busy weekend...and another rainy one...
...the snow is just almost gone...
...of course...I did the regular weekly shopping...of note...a new vegan butter to try...AND...Romaine lettuce is back on the shelves...YAY!...
...I also bought fresh basil...and sorted just the right sized leaves...
...and planted the leftover in a cup in the windowsill...
...then I made Miyoko's vegan mozzarella...I've posted all about it before here...
...fresh little balls of vegan mozzarella after their ice-water bath...
...I toasted some artisan bread...and opened two cute little jars of bruschetta sauce...
...cut the little balls of mozzarella in half and chose the very best basil leaves...
...and assembled the pretty and Christmas-y Vegan Bruschetta to take to the annual Sunday School Christmas party...
...at the party...
...there were a lot of people...45 numbers drawn for the Crazy Santa gift exchange...it was a lot of fun...
...when we got home...I prepped a pound of pintos...and washed them well...
...and left them to soak overnight...
...Sunday morning...we had pumpkin pie muffins...and they were yummy...
...the Church was decorated for the Christmas Pageant later this week...
...Christmas is such a busy and exciting time...
...after Church we put the soaked beans in the instant pot with an onion, a garlic and some bay leaf...
...after a few minutes in the Instant Pot...
...I froze a couple of muffin tins of beans for later use...and put a couple of jars in the fridge for lunches and dinners this week...
...and finally Sunday afternoon...this arrived...did y'all know that the USPS makes Sunday deliveries...crazy...
...an early Christmas present...my old Lenovo is on it's last legs...so this was a welcome gift...I can't wait to get it all set up...

...Dinner and a Movie...

...we pushed the easy button and had Chinese takeout...

...I chose Szechuan Tofu...and it was too spicy for me...so I put it into a colander and rinsed most of the peppery sauce off...then it was just fine...

...the movie was Goodbye Christopher Robin...it was kinda sweet and kinda sad...Scout loved the Winnie the Pooh books when he was little...

...what have you been watching lately?...

...Frugal Friday Favorites...

...a couple of years ago...I experimented with a Vegan Oatmeal Creamer...
...now organic rolled oats are $1.69...and this recipe uses 1/2 cup of oats...which is about 1 1/2 ounces...or about 11¢...so this is about the cheapest vegan yogurt you can make...and you can put the leftover pulp into cookies or bread or pancakes...so there's no waste at all...

...when I made the oat milk creamer before...I did not cook it...but I needed to at least heat the oat milk this time...so I heated it to boiling...
...and then let it cool...and to cool it quickly...I set the pot into a sink of cold water...
...it needs to be below 110 degrees before you put the probiotic in...
...then I just opened a capsule of probiotic and sprinkled the powder over the oatmilk...and stirred it in...
...and then put it into my Deva Bridge Yogurt Maker...and left it overnight...

...the next morning we had thick and tangy and delicious vegan yogurt...

...W.I.A.Y. ...

...Breakfast was some toasty bread and Bee Free Honee and tofu with some kala namak...and tea of course...
...and then I had a mid-morning snack of kiwifruit...a whole plate of them...

...do you eat the hairy skin of the kiwifruit or not?...I do not...
...for lunch I had a deconstructed sushi bowl...
...afternoon snack was some romaine lettuce, and apple and some walnuts...and the apple is another new (to me) variety...Cameo...have you had one?...it was good...very juicy and sweet...
...the Man made chili for dinner...and we had oven fries, green beans and spinach with it...

...what did you eat yesterday?...
