Apparently, I finished these socks in
July of 2007 but I rarely wore them because they were too tight - not once I got them on - but getting the lace over my heel was a chore...

...before...

...I loved the lace pattern and the little fluted edge it produced....

...but I whacked them off above the ankle...

...rolled the yarn back into a ball and picked up the stitches - I increased 6 stitches for one more lace panel...

...and after...
...here are the re-finished socks with the new upside down top - notice that you lose the pretty fluted edge when you knit from the toe up - originally these were knit from the top down...
...and the super easy lace pattern:
Round 1: [Yo, k1, SK2P, k1, yo, k1] to end.
Round 2: K all sts.
Good work. Too tight socks are unbearable!
ReplyDeleteAmazing you can do that. Fixed-um right up though. MOM
ReplyDeletealright, you "whacker" ....i could go on and give you the giggles, you know.....
ReplyDeleteOooh, I had to cringe when you mentioned cutting the knitting...but courage won out and now you have wearable socks....good for you.
