...Over the Weekend...with Van Gogh...

...just like the last time Our Airman left us to go back to his base in Alabama...we went as far a Columbia SC with him...so that he'd have a little bit less windshield time...
...and...so that we could go to the museum and see the Van Gogh exhibit...
...notice that it's titled Van Gogh and his Inspirations.
...at the back...they had this timeline that snaked around the room...
...putting his paintings into a chronological context...
...that being said...a lot of the paintings in the exhibit were not Van Gogh's...
...this one is...of course...and it was very crowded...and there was a queue for a lot of the paintings to get close enough to really see them...
...this one made me think of my sweet sissie...
...I loved the line drawings...there were only a couple of those...
...some interesting facts...
...I loved this winter scene...
...some more facts...
...an actual Van Gogh...he painted lots of weavers...
...apparently that was a thing...
...and they were positioned right beside Jozef Israëls' Young Girl Sewing...which was tiny...but I really liked it...he painted lots of sewing pictures as well..
...an almost iconic painting of Christ...
...and another favorite...Sheep on the Dunes by Anton Mauve...
...we had a lot of fun...we went into the shop...and it was really crowded...but we braved the line and bought this sweet little Van Gogh board book for a certain young lady...bacause you're never too young...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

  2. I had the privilege of visiting the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and that is a wonderful experience. My art class project this term is Van Gogh, we start back tomorrow and I'm looking forward to finding out exactly what we will be doing. Interestingly I just sent some books for my twin grand babies, never too early to start.
