...the little red overalls...

...this is another W.I.P. post from before Christmas...

...while we were in Alabama wandering around 'Whoville' (Enterprise)...we went into a cute little boutique...filled with baby things...
...and they had these adorable little baby overalls...in a sweet t-shirt material...and the Airman's Wife thought they were so cute...so while they wandered around the store...I secretly snapped a photo of the little overalls...you know...for future reference...haha...(do y'all do that too?)...
...y'all know that I love the Grinch...so I snapped this photo for future reference as well...I thought these little hats were so cute...a little scary for a baby maybe...
...I found a $1 red t-shirt at the Dollar store...and this Romperalls pattern online and printed it out...
...I got out a couple of Our Airman's saved baby things...a little onesie...and the little sleeper on the right is his actual 'going home' outfit...because I wanted to check the size a little bit...as the pattern seemed a little bit long and skinny to me...but you can see that the length (shoulder to crotch) is fine...but the 'bottom' (or diapered) area needed to be a little bit larger...
...so I just traced a little curve onto the bottom area...
...this is some plaid flannel from my stash...left over from some of Scout's old pj bottoms from ND no doubt...but since the pattern is for a stretch material...I folded it on the bias and cut it out so there'd be some give in the fabric...
...everything all cut out and ready to sew...
...I got some red thread out of my sewing box...and was surprised to see this sticker...from North Dakota...sweet memories...probably bought to sew the flannel pj bottoms...haha...
...anywhoo...back lining done...
...front lining done...then there were just two side seams...and there will be snaps on the inside legs...
...the pattern doesn't call for this at all...but I thought it would be cute to have the plaid lining the snap placket as well...so I just cut that shape out of some scraps of flannel...
...sewed it to the inside seam...and pressed it back...
...then tucked under the raw edge and sewed a neat seam all around...
...had a quick little try on...while the kiddos were out Christmas shopping...
...it's a pretty good fit...a little big...but she'll need some room to grow...
...went to the button box to find some buttons...I originally thought about doing two white buttons on each shoulder tab...like the inspiration piece...but I found these two wooden buttons and liked them better...so there will just be one button on each tab...
...sewed the buttonholes and the buttons...
...and added the snaps...and the little red overalls were finished...

...I'm sure I'll post a photo of her wearing them at some point...

~Have a lovely day!
