...12.16...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...I had to take a small break from my Christmas socks...because Our Girl needed a hat...so I gathered some colours of yarn that I liked for a rainbow...
...and just crocheted a hat...without a pattern...the top cream coloured portion is recognizable to any crocheter as the simple round increase: ...start with a Magic circle...
Round 1 – Work 6sc in magic circle. (6)
Round 2 – 2 sc in each st around. (12)
Round 3 – *sc in next, 2 sc in next; repeat from * around. (18)
Round 4 – *scin next 2, 2 sc in next; repeat from * around. (24)
...and so forth until the hat is as big as you want...and then just single crochet in every stitch until it's as long as you want...

...then for the rainbow portion...I used a new (for me anyway) sort of stitch...I just did a chain stitch into the back loop of the last row and then did 2 rows of chain stitches like that to make the stripes...it was easy and fun...it produces a fabric that looks a lot (A LOT) like knit stockinette...and it gathers the hat in a little bit...

...and then I added a little bow...I think it turned out super cute...
...but I also got quite a bit done on my Christmas socks...you can see that I changed up the snowflake at the bottom instead of doing two of the same...
...and I did the heel in solid red...those adorable stripes around the top take a lot more time than a solid colour becuase you have to change yarn on every stitch...and if I wasn't somewhat pressed for time on these I would definitely do the stripes...

...and I'll continue those two little red stripes up the red cross portion just with duplicate stitch when I'm done...

...this is the pattern that I created for that snowflake...

...what's in your workbasket?...

~Have a lovely day!
