...on the Read Harder challenge...I've penciled in all the rest of the titles that I plan to read for this challenge...I've just got to decide on the last one...but...I've finished the Caterbury Tales...and I enjoyed it...it's fun to have a glimpse into what life was like so long ago...
...and I've also finished The Motorcycle Diaries...and as much as I didn't like the other road trip book I read (On the Road)...I DID like this one...Che is not a person that I knew much about...I mean...I had a vague idea of him as a sort of South American freedom fighter who tried to further the rights of the poor and disenfranchised...and I'd seen lots of T-shirts emblazoned with his iconic image in college...haha...so it was interesting to find out that he was raised by an affluent left-leaning family and was in his final year of medical school when he makes this life altering road trip...
...this is a map of the trip (photo from Wiki)...and it's quite the adventure...he chronicles the people he meets...mostly poor native people...and he has a few brushes with the 'law' and gets into some 'situations'...I recommend it...it's a really good read...
...and I'm probably a little over half-way through The Neverending Story...and I'm LOVING it...I wish I'd read the book with Our Airman when he was little an loved the movie...it's a REALLY GOOD book...
...I'm working on the Knit Doll Keito's hair...
...to make the 'hairs'...I've wrapped the yellow baby yarn around my glasses case...and then cut the strands...
...so they are all the same length...
...and it's actually taking a while...surprisingly she doesn't give any instructions on how to attach the hair...since these dolls will be going to little girls...I don't want it to be able to be pulled out...and if you just pulled the strands through the stitches you would be able to do that...
...so I'm pulling each individual hair into the center of the head and tying it off to the hair next to it with a square knot...it's working fine...it's just a bit tedious...but soon she'll have a whole head of 'blond' hair...
...and I dug up some of the Cana Lily tubers/rhizomes/roots...not sure what they are called...because I was chatting with Mom...and she said she wanted some...
...this is what they look like now...you can see the green shoots for this years growth...and by the end of the summer they will almost reach the roof over the back porch...
...and I took down the bird feeders too...so sad...
...oh...while I was digging up the roots...I found some of these pods that still have seeds in them...so I saved those for Mom too...
