...11.14...Over the Weekend...

...I did the weekly shopping...absolutely nothing of note...but things are getting so expensive...
...after the tropical storm....which was very tropical...it's turned off really chilly...highs only in the 40s (abour 4° C)...making it too chilly to ride my bike without a jacket...and I thought I'd take a selfie of me wearing the 'new' white hoodie...but I'm horrible at taking selfies...I need to watch some how to videos...haha...
...this one is in focus...still pretty goofy and not hardly correctly framed...oh well...I'm pretty happy with how the hoodie turned out...you can't see the stains anyway...
...I did a little bit of food prep for the week ahead...I baked some tofu...
...I'm really not much of a prepper...but I do like to have things like baked tofu on hand...I eat a lot of it...
...and I cooked a bag of garbanzos in the Instant Pot...
...and the Man fired up the grill...so I took advantage of that to make some grilled smoky tofu too...
...I made a quick banana pudding for two...using my homemade vanilla wafers...
...and Bird's Custard...we really like this simple vanilla pudding...it's pretty frugal even though the box is expensive in the grocery store's international section...you only use 2 Tbs and 2 Tbs of sugar to make a 2 cup serving...and it turns out perfect every thime...
...I took a trunk load of things from the basement to the thrift store...and I found this top in the 'giveaway' bin...it's my size...and a pretty burgundy colour and a silky fabric...
...it does have a couple of issues making it unsellable though...there's this hole along the side of the placket...
...and another small hole at about the middle of the waist...it looks like it may be a burn hole although the top doesn't smell like it belonged to a smoker...I know you can get burn holes from other things though...haha...I think I'll try to rescue the top...
...and finally at Church on Sunday...one of our parishoners gave us a grocery bag STUFFED full of pecans...I mean really stuffed...it probably weighs over 10 lbs...
...and they are HUGE...it must have been a really good year for pecans...I bet the squirrels are happy...
...and they're the thin shelled easy to crack kind of pecans...you can just squeeze two of them together and they crack open...(you know like Daddy used to do with walnuts)...so I'll definitely be making a pecan pie for Thanksgiving...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

  1. I grew up eating Birds Custard, it is a staple of British deserts, it's lovely with sliced bananas in it, but also delish poured warm over any serving of pie. And, isn't it wonderful that it is vegan by accident. Thanks to you I am no a very frequent eater of baked tofu, the texture is lovely and it goes well with just about anything. Love the selfie. Have a wonderful week.
