...Wilderness...Day 3...

...Tuesday...

...the weather alarm went off a few minutes before 6 AM...

...and we had a wet and rainy/stormy morning...

...I could have laid in my tent for a couple of hours listening to the rain patter on the rainfly...but I didn't...

...heading off to Merit Badge classes in the rain...

...by afternoon the rain had stopped...the skies still looked threatening...

...but we opened the Fire Tower (I posted a bunch of photos from the tower last year and nothing has really changed so I won't post those again)...Scout Adult Leaders have a checklist of things they have to do to earn their 'Scout Leader Badge'...and one of the things we usually sign up to do is man the Fire Tower...

...another one of the check-offs is to serve a meal in the Canteen...I'd give credit but I don't know which boy took this photo as I left the camera on the table...Scout says it wasn't him...

...we had brought along some games (my checkers) and a magnetic lawn darts game...the Scouts quickly learned that the darts would stick to the trailer and the roof of the shelter...so (more than once) the darts had to be lassoed off the roof...

...lawn darts being played properly...

...and again...a roaring campfire is necessary even though the heat index is still above 100...

  2. This is making me wonder if I should sign up my son for cub scouts! Is your son vegan too and does that make it hard when food is involved at scout events?

Hi Tami! I really can't say enough good stuff about the Boy Scouts...I've been Cub Master for 5 years and we always make sure the boys with special food needs are taken care of locally...but the council and national Scouts do too...all you have to do is let them know in advance...very best wishes with your scouting adventure!

  4. Oh my. It looks like fun, but I know I couldn't handle the heat. You do wonders as a Scout leader.
