...Veterans Parade 2014..

...we had gorgeous weather for the parade...this is the very beginning...
...I'm such a sucker for bagpipes...one of our neighbors plays the bagpipes...whenever we hear him playing we go out on the deck and listen...do you like bagpipes?...
...it was a regular parade...with police cars and firetrucks and sirens...
...finally...here comes our band...
...and that's Scout on the far right with his mellophone...he'll start playing French Horn now that marching season is over...

...ah...those West Virginia Hills...

...I hope you had a lovely Veteran's Day...and a lovely day today too...

  1. There was a soldier, a Scottish soldier, who wandered far away and soldiered far away - a lovely tune and beautifully played on those bagpipes. My husband is 3/4 Scot and his paternal grandfather was in a Highland Regiment in WWI. I knew him, a tall upright man who spent WWII in the underground Cabinet Office working with Winston Churchill. He had wandered far from his roots in the far north of Scotland.

The school band is superb. We have nothing like the American school bands which is a shame.
