...Dinner and a Movie...

...my health food store was having a sale on Daiya Mac and Cheese...

...so....instead of $5.69 this box was $3.69...which is still pretty 'spendy'...(ND word)...
...but I'd been wanting to try it...so I splurged...

...I was expecting an envelope of powder...but it's a smooshy-already-prepared-cheese-sauce packet...
...but you proceed the normal way...by boiling the noodles...or noods as we call them...
...the directions warn against overcooking...
...and...notice the little ridges in the noodles...regular mac and cheese does not have those...
...anywhoo...squeeze the packet over the noodles...WOW...that's a bright yellow cheese sauce isn't it?...
...just stir it in...
...and you're done...
...served with grilled smoky tofu (of course), broccoli, fresh garden squash, salad, and bread...
...and the review...it was ok...I wasn't crazy about it...I've definitely made vegan cheese sauces from scratch that I liked better...so...it's really ok for a convenience food...but it's got a pretty 'processed' flavor and my boys weren't fans...

...and for the movie...it was my turn to choose...and I chose "Hello, my name is Doris"...it was cute and funny...and the Man was not a fan...must be a 'chick-flick'...haha...

...we'd appreciate a good movie recommendation from you...

~Have a lovely weekend!

  2. I have never bought this Daiya product.
This confirms me that I am not missing a big thing ;-)
    Thank you!

Have you seen "The lady in the van" with Maggie Smith?

  3. Macaroni cheese is a known dish here in the UK but has now fallen out of fashion. I have never seen it pre packaged! My father was born and spent his childhood in India, a child of the military between the wars. He had a dish he loved which I have since discovered is indeed Indian. Boiled macaroni, tomatoes - either sliced or canned - and grated cheese. Layer it up starting with macaroni, then tomatoes, cheese, macaroni and end with tomatoes and cheese. Bake hot for about 20 minutes.
