...3.16...Over the Weekend...

...we slept late and had a big breakfast Saturday morning...
...scrambled tofu and toasts...and grits...it was a nice way to start the day...and we tried the almond version of the Country Crock plant based butter...it was yummy...we liked the avocado version too...
...and then this...as I was leaving to do the grocery shopping...growing up in rural North Carolina...we used to call this contraption a 'honey wagon'...but trust me...this manure spreader smells nothing like honey...arghhh...it's chilly out so we probably wouldn't have the windows open anyway...but I did have some outdoor plans for today...
...I did the grocery shopping...nothing really interesting...the strawberries were on sale 3 for $5...
...and then I did brave the stink outside to plant a small 'garden'...we don't really have any place to put a garden here...but there's this strip between the overhang of the house and where the mulch ends and the yard begins that I thought I might could grow something...so I planted a small row of butternut squash...
...and three small rows of spring onions...we'll see if anything comes of the experiment...
...then I washed and separated the greens...
...and cooked them in the Instant Pot...
...Sunday after Church...I did something that's pretty rare for me...I had a cup of coffee in the afternoon...rare because usually afternoon caffeine keeps me awake...but this did not seem to bother me at all...and I felt really peppy all afternoon...
...and I made this 1 Hour Artisan Bread to go with dinner...it's a really odd recipe that uses the microwave...but it turned out perfectly...and we'll defnitely be making it again...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

  1. I guess they didn't cancel church....I'd like to try that bread, but all I have on board is bread pans, no covered dutch oven or anything I could substitute....I'll have to add that.to the list for next year...love, K

  2. My son and his family are in lockdown in France. I think we are heading towards that here but already many over 70s are self isolating. I'm not a prepper but I do like a month's supply of non perishable food. About six weeks ago I saw what was going to happen and made that 3 months. First things we bought when things started to look tricky was dog food and wine - first things first!
