...11.10...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...the first sleeve...the one I started last week...is finished...and I've started the second sleeve...
...I thought you might like to see a bit of the 'process'...of knitting a sweater without a pattern...

...the pattern is the super-dooper-easy Stockinette stitch...so you don't have to pay a lot of attention to that...but you do have to pay a bit of attention to your stitch counts...so I just use my trusty...and ancient...Susan Bates "Peg-It" stitch counter...I have one of the twisty ones that go on the end of the needle...but I find this visual much easier to keep track of because there are a couple of hundred rows here...I think the little twisty one is better for say a cable pattern repeat or something more like that with fewer rows...as mine only goes up to 99...
...and then I keep a measuring tape and the paper pattern that I'm knitting to close at hand for multiple checks...

...and then I also made a 'sketch' of the piece of the pattern I'm working on with what I think the stitch counts should be going up from the bottom every inch...vertically and horizontally...and so far it's been working out perfectly...
...so now that both of the front pieces are complete...I thought I'd turn my attention to the front button placket...I did decide on just a simple single crochet border here...and then I lined up the original sweater...and marked the button holes with safety pins...and left a space for the buttons...not sure yet if I'll go back and do the buttonhole stitch around them as I really don't think I'll button up this cardigan at all...so I won't really be needing the reinforcement...
...this is the original sweater's button plackets...
...they're folded under and stitched...but I'm not doing that...I think I'm going to add a ribbon to the back though...we'll see...

...and there's a pretty plain little gold button too...
...so it was time to think about buttons...so I got some likely candidates out of my button box...
...these bright white ones...
...a little bit too much contrast I think...
...so then I tried these pretty pearl ones...and I like them...and I have another cardi with buttons like these...
...but it gives this casual cardi a little bit too much class...haha...
...so I think I'm going to go with the blue ones...
...the original cardigan has gold ones that match as well...
...and the choice will be whether to have the little divot facing up...
...or down...
...and I think I like them better this way...for a plainer smoother effect...

...what's in your workbasket this week?...

~Have a lovely day!
