And now do you like my hat? I do, what a hat, I do like that hat!

I'm sure you all recognize the Dr. Seuss (Go Dog Go) quote above - one of my very favorite books from my childhood.
I've been working on the Musketeer Hat a lot - and I do like that hat - I'm so pleased with the result...

I made a paper pattern first...

...for the middle piece I made a strip long enough to match the inside of the brim and then I cut several darts in it at the top and taped those until it matched the top circle...

...then I traced that to a flat sheet of paper...

...then assembled the paper hat and taped it together...

...and tried it on the Musketeer...

...a perfect fit...

...then we cut two of the large circles out of black felt (from Stuff-Mart) one small circle and a band - and a posterboard circle to go inside the brim - and then we just stitched it all together - this was kinda tricky - making sure right sides were together and the bulky posterboard liner was difficult to maneuver - but we managed and I do...I do like that hat!

  1. Oh I do like that hat! Great job. Smart to make a paper one first.
It's very funny that we were both making a hat today!
