...1.13...W.I.P. Wednesday...a simple pot lifter...

...this is one of those things that in reality only took a few minutes to create...but when you document it...it looks a lot more complicated than it really was...haha...
...so...we have this set of three saucepans...and one large cook pot...

...I searched the blog to see if I had a post about the Scout Closet Cleanout...all those years ago...of course I did...haha...

...and I mentionned several things that our young Scout got...but for some reason...I didn't mention this set of pots...maybe because we just put them in the footlocker that Our Airman also got...and they were stored in the basement for a while...they were soot covered as well...but after some time...I got them out and cleaned them up...I like them because they are solid stainless and have nice heavy bottoms...and they were Scout gear...so they're super sturdy...

...but you can see the metal handle...and...thermal conduction of metal and all...and it gets very hot to touch...
...and for a while...I've been using a clothespin to lift the lid...it's handy and it fits well...and it does the job...but it flops over if I leave it attached...I should also mention that a potholder or a mitt are a little bit awkward on these lids...hence the need...haha...
...so I drafted a little cardboard pattern to attach to the clothespin...
...you can see how it will work here...
...and because they are offset on opposite sides of the clothespin...it stands...
...so I went downstairs and cut them out of some scrap wood...
...took the clothespin apart...
...and glued them to it...
...but then I thought that might not be quite strong enough...so I drilled three holes into the clothespin...
...and using toothpicks as dowels...
...and a little bit more glue...
...I further attached the lifters to the clothespin...
....and then snipped off the extra toothpick pieces...
...gave it a quick sanding...
...and then put it to use...

...it really took less than 1/2 an hour to complete this little 'project'...haha...

...what's in your workbasket?...

~Have a lovely day!

  1. Cute, we all know how handy and imaginative you are! We're in "play" mode, not a lot of workbasket stuff right now. (Knock wood!!). Love, K
