...6.15...W.I.P. Wednesday...

...first...a little dollie update...I'm to the knee of the right leg...but I've done something wrong and I need to use the pattern instructions for the left leg...
...I think when I joined I started knitting in the wrong direction...probably means...I'll need to use the right leg pattern for the left leg...not a big deal...
...and you kind of have to 'stuff as you go'...the pattern recommends stuffing every 3 cm...

...and you may notice that I took the frame out of the dollie...just because I want this doll to be soft and cuddly for the little ones...IF...I make one for myself (which might happen...HAHAHAHA)...I'll probably put the frame in that one...
...in other news about the house...the Man got a new pillow...and it's way to thick...WAY WAY TOO THICK...and it came with that extra little packet of fluff...you know...just in case it wasn't thick enough for you already...
...so I got out a bag to pull out some of the extra fluff...and then I thought...HEY...why don't I just make another pillow with it...

...so I got out my favorite vintage pillow case to use as a guide...and some appropriate 'pillow-looking' material for the actual pillow...
...and then another vintage-y striped floral fabric in my stash for the actual pillow case...this is some fabric that I purchased years ago for some Lutheran World Relief Quilts...
...and a strip of old sheeting for some contrast...like the original...
...and in about 15 minutes or so...I had a new pillow lining and a new pillow case...Kitten loves them of course...because they are on the floor...they are HERS!...
...and I used one of the little decorative stitches on my sewing machine...I hardly ever get an opportunity to use those...but it's really pretty here...
...then I just unzipped the Man's pillow and removed about half of the fluff...
...and stuffed that into my new pillow...
...and then just top stitched the opening closed...
...and now the Man and I both have new pillows...

...btw...do you say Pillow-Case or Pillow-Slip...? L.M. Montgomery called them Pillow slips...just wondering?...

The sheets and pillow-slips were fragrant with lavender, and one of Grandmother King’s noted patchwork quilts was over us.

  1. I call them pillow cases, but then once in awhile I call the bedding the bed clothes....Lovely job on your new pillow. I also love the dolly you are knitting.

    God bless.

  2. Poor Dollie - I'm sure you'll get her legs right....how do the pillows sleep? It's always a struggle to get just the right feel...how did you make sure it wasn't "lumpy"? I hate a lumpy pillow! Love, K

    1. Hey K,
...I like the memory foam pillow more than I thought I would...I really prefer a pretty thin pillow anyway...and I still have the old old old one that Daddy had in the sleeper of his truck...it's lumpy foam though...and what 40 or 50 years old...
      Love,
      T

  3. I call them pillow cases but I've heard of the other. Well now two pillows from one pillow sounds pretty sweet! That doll looks like she's in the torture chamber with all those needles in her leg, ha ha ha.
