...6.6...Over the Weekend...

...they cut the hay in the field...the morning air smells of freshly mown hay...it's delightful...
...we made waffles for breakfast...so good...
...I went to Harris Teeter...Food Lion doesn't have the organic soy milk for some reason...and I got just a few things there...
...I checked the discount rack and got these two heads of cauliflower...for $1 each...
...and I also picked up an InstaCart shop at Food Lion...still trying to minimize my time in public places as much as possible...
...the Man really likes this hot sauce...but it's pretty hot...
...so when I saw this Pace sauce that looks kind of the same...but it's labeled mild...I got it to try as well...
...Food Lion is discontinuing these chocolate chips...so I got four bags...$2.50 each...about half price...and I'm sorry that they're not going to carry them anymore...
...strawberries were on sale...and they look and smell gorgeous...
...some bread mixes arrived from Amazon...the Man ordered those...
...while I was putting the groceries away...I saw these baby birds getting shooed out of their nest in the middle clothesline post by their mama...and I got worried that Callie would get them as they were fluttering around on the ground...so I stopped what I was doing and stood guard at the corner of the fence until they were able to get their wings working...whew...

...it's kind of hard to see...but mama-bird and one big strong baby are watching from the end post...and the other two little birdies are fluttering around where they dropped to the ground...but it didn't take them long to figure out what to do...so they were only vulnerable for a few minutes...
...we snacked around a bit in the afternoon...and tried the new sauce...but we neither one liked it...it's oddly bitter for some reason...
...the sexton saw this little guy when he was mowing the lawn...and called to ask us to look in the attic for bats...we did and you could see three of them under the vents but there is an intact screen keeping them out of the attic...
...he has such a sweet little face...I think he's a baby...and must have gotten a little bit lost...he was just resting/sleeping there...I like bats...and I don't want them to come to any harm...I need to get a bat house up close by for them to move to...
...by the late afternoon they had already raked the hay...it's hot and dry...so perfect for making hay...
...Sunday was Pentecost...so it was Confirmation Sunday at our Church...and we took a picture of each Confirmand in the classroom...there was a dinner in their honor after Church too...it was a lot of fun...
...and by evening they had baled the hay...

~Wishing you a lovely start to your week!

  1. Looks like a fun weekend. Great to see little birdies fly like that! And I hate to admit it, but I'm kinda creeped out by bats of any nature.....love, K

  2. That bat is precious! I'm glad to hear they're still outside though, not in the attic, too. A bat house would be fun!

  3. I somehow missed the fact that you had a blog until today! I spent just a few minutes looking around, and enjoyed it very much. I love watching baby birds learn to fly, too. Last year, we had a pair of purple finches nesting right in front of my kitchen window on our covered porch and I loved it. This year, the next remains empty, which was a bummer.
